Chapter 27: Last Goodbye

At the Copeland Manor

It had been a couple of days, a new month had begun, and Antony almost seemed like he was back to normal. He always had his same old smile on his face, and he worked in his office, and slept when it was time to.

The only red flag others saw was that he was sometimes excited about violence or terrible events on the news. Normally Antony could care less, but for some reason he did.

Audrey tried her hardest to make Antony's days better, she quite honestly thought she was doing a decent job so far. But part of her knew something was still wrong with her husband.

On this early morning before the sunrise, Audrey got into bed but noticed Antony sitting at the edge of the bed and watching the sky, "Antony, are you going to lie down"?

Antony looked down then sighed, "Sure".

Antony turned around and laid next to his wife facing her, laying his head on the pillow. He changed his normal smile for a sweet smile.

"Audrey", he began, "I'm sorry I have not been the greatest husband in the world, I wish I could've been that for you. I want you to have an actual chance at life Audrey, and I feel me being here....", he sighs, "Is the best idea anymore".

Audrey sat up shocked at his words, "Antony, why would you say such things, I love my life because it's spent with you by my side".

Antony also sat up and put a hand on Audrey's cheek, "I love you Audrey...", he got closer, "And it's because I love you that I cannot lie to you....you'll be better off without me".

"Antony stop it, what are you saying", Audrey asked in distress?

A tear fell from Antony's eye, "I'm saying goodbye, my love....I will always love you".

Before Audrey could stop him, Antony ripped down the curtains and allowed the sunlight to shine on him. Audrey jumped behind the bed and screamed for him to get out of the light, but he didn't move an inch. Antony's body started to disintegrate, turning into ash, starting with his fingers and toes and moving quickly around his body.

He looked at Audrey with the most happy and genuine smile for one last time, "I love you Audrey...I hope we meet again...in another life..".

Audrey's face was full of tears as the last bit of her husband slowly turned to ash. All that remained was his clothes. Audrey stood up and walked over to the ashy pile of clothing. She picked up his black vest and held it to her chest as she screamed as she began to sob.

Mira was the first to hear the scream and came running to see what was going on, "Audrey I heard you scream is everything...", Mira saw Antony's clothes in a pile of ashes, "...oh no".

Mira ran to close the curtain, then knelt down at her makers side, "Audrey...can you tell me what happened"?

Audrey wiped her tears but they just kept coming, "He stepped into the sunlight and ended his life...why didn't I help him more I KNEW his feelings were more serious"!

Mira couldn't believe it, Antony had taken his own life right in front of his own wife, "I'm sorry Audrey...I can't imagine what his progenies felt when it happened".

Soon after that statement Joshua walked into the room breathing heavily and holding his chest, "What happened, is Antony okay I felt something really intense and tight in my chest".

Joshua walked closer and noticed what had just happened, "...Antony's dead..isn't he"?

Audrey and Mira both nodded, Joshua sighed as a few tears ran down his face. Mira got up and hugged him tightly. Joshua hugged her back.
