Chapter Seven

The next few weeks that passed by were fairly uneventful.

Reed and Theo went to their respective jobs as zoo vet and accountant every day and came home to each other every night. Vanessa Clyde had emailed them that she was having a complete background check done on them and calling the references they had provided. If all turned up good the next step would be a home check and physical exams. Then they could discuss what type of baby they preferred. Theo and Reed didn't have any real preference. They just wanted a healthy baby anything. A healthy happy baby to spoil rotten like they did Livvie and Dosie.

Matt was delighted when Theo and Reed offered to babysit one coming weekend. The last time Theo had seen the younger man he looked exhausted and was carrying his usual man bag but it had baby food stains.

They were almost close to getting Winnie back when one night he called having what could only be called a Winnie level hissy fit. Apparently Dennis had come home late one night and Winnie was afraid he was having an affair. And smelling of ladies perfume! Theo had to kindly explain to Winnie that that was normal because the insurance salesman had a second job as a retail clerk that sold - wait for it - ladies perfume. Dennis hadn't done anything wrong but to keep peace he bought Winnie a dozen roses and took him out to Red Lobster. All was well then.

That weekend Saint and Matt brought over Livvie who looked adorable in all ruffled pink. They also brought numerous bags full of formula, baby food, baby books, and toys. Reed had reminded the new parents that Livvie wasn't actually moving in. The parents went off for lunch and a bike ride around the Capitol after making sure they had all the necessary contact info including 911. After they left Theo and Reed settled down to play with the baby and read to her. Until they smelled it. Matthew was right. Exploding diarrhea. And in the one million bags they hadn't put one diaper.

All in all the past few weeks weren't bad. Of course the day after the babysitting adventure they were devastated to get some bad news.

Mr . Walton - Fisher , I must sincerely decline you and your husband's application for adoption. We have the strictest of standards and our prospective parents must meet high criteria to ensure finding proper parents for our children. I regret to inform you that you failed to meet the criteria because of a startling piece of information that came in your husband's background check. I really don't feel a porn performer is a suitable role model for any young mind. Again , my most sincere regret, Vanessa Clyde, Owner Bundle of Joy Adoption Agency
