When Theo had returned home that night his head was filled with troubled thoughts of ugly affairs and broken love and hateful churches and dangerous killers who threatened his family. He was grateful that Reed wanted to go out to their favorite karaoke club with Saint and Matt. Winnie was going to babysit Livvie again. He wasn't a party boy by any means but he needed a fun night out with his loved ones badly. He suspected that Reed knew this and had planned this little night out. God , he loved that man.

Tonight was Reed and Saint's duet night. As their husbands sat at their usual table, sipping margaritas, they rocked out a rousing version of Queen's We Are The Champions. As they finished the song half the club started a standing ovation, making Saint blush and Reed laugh madly.

Theo laughed and clapped for his man and Saint. Then he caught sight of a person that really didn't fit into a karaoke club in LGBTQA friendly DuPont Circle. He was wearing a black shiny tight shirt and equally tight red pants with a black leather jacket. It was Robbie Brown from the Brown family Church.

Theo's smile slipped. As though he sensed he was being watched Robbie turned around on the bar stool and stared coldly at Theo. Theo hitched his breath in shock.

Robbie Brown was in a gay club.

Robbie Brown had been smiling and flirting with a man sitting next to him.

Robbie got up and started walking fast. Instinctively Theo got up and started walking in the same direction.

" Theo , where you going? ," Matt called.

" I'll be back," Theo said. He quickened his step until he reached Robbie's destination.

The exit door that lead to the alley.

It was empty except for overflowing trash cans and scurrying rats the size of cats. Damn. He was gone.

Then something sharp poked him in the ribs. He looked down and gasped.

Robbie Brown was right behind him. And he had a gun sticking into his side.

" WWWhy couldn't you jjjjust listen? ," Robbie hissed in his ear. " Wwwalk. "

" Robbie......'

" I said move !"

He moved. And prayed.
