6. Beginning of celebration

King Jeong Chaewon was sitting on a thick mattress which was spread on the floor in the royal chamber of the King and Queen. There was a pile of shining clothes surrounding him, while he was immersed in some clothed letters. Queen Myeonseong was sitting across from the King, a red heavy cape spread on her lap, her fingers were tracing the embroidery on the cape.

Suddenly a faint sound of anklets echoed in the silent corridor and soon neared the chamber. The royal couple know who's coming as only princess y/n wears anklets.

She's so fond of wearing it, whether she carries other jewelry or not, but anklets are her precious friend.

"Mother." Y/n and Jiyeon enter the chamber carrying small and big decorated wooden boxes. They both sat near the mattress before placing the boxes down.

"Here are the presents you wanted for our guests. Please check and tell me if there's anything left." Y/N and Jiyeon separated the boxes while the Queen smiled. "Keep them here, I'll check it later. Have you two eaten anything or just kept running here and there?"

King Chaewon glanced at both princesses who smiled together. "We kept eating while running, Gomu (aunt)." Jiyeon says and queen Myeonseong chuckles, shaking her head.

"Mother, father, I wanted to request something if you allow me." Y/n says politely and the royal couple nods, giving her full attention, King Chaewon somewhat senses his daughter's request already. "The guests will start arriving after three days from now, although preparations have been almost done but I and Jiyeon want to help you in taking care of the guests."

"Where you both will be busy welcoming the guests, we'll make sure they're provided with their every needs."

Jiyeon nods with pleading eyes, supporting her cousin. Queen Myeonseong sighs. "You two have already done a lot of help y/n, and we're expecting many guests, how will you two take care of all? Moreover ministers have been already assigned to their individual duties."

King Chaewon was looking at the queen before his eyes averted to Y/N who looked back at him. Both father and daughter were looking at each other before The King smiled. "When children ask for opportunities, they should be given it." King Chaewon shifts his eyes to the Queen. "I believe y/n and Jiyeon will take care of everything when we'll be busy in welcoming our guests. Don't you agree, dear Queen, they should be given some responsibilities now?"

The King's voice was so calm and soothing.

Myeonseong sighs while shaking her head. "Okay your majesty, you and your daughter win." She smiled and looked at both Princesses. "Take care of all the needs of our guests without coming in front of them, work will be done as per your commands and specially take care of the kitchen part and although chambers have been arranged but still- " The queen was interrupted in between as Jiyeon held her shoulders. "Okay Okay Gomu you can give us a list tomorrow morning. It seems quite long!!"

The queen stares while Jiyeon giggles.

Y/N shifts closer to her father before putting her head on his knees as she mutters, "thank you." King Chaewon smiles while caressing his daughter's hair and cheek.

"By the way, your majesty." Queen Myeonseong calls and Chaewon looks at her. She was holding a quite thick and long golden color cape with slightly heavy work of beautiful embroidery. "I have chosen this as the present for King Kim Gwanjong. How's this, please tell?"

Chaewon took the cape in his hands, y/n and Jiyeon too stared at the golden cape. The embroidery work was so beautifully done on the soft material and the golden color was glowing due to the moonlight coming from the near window. Chaewon's lips tucked up in a smile. "This is ethereal."
