When Ruwana was brightened up with the warm sun rays for the last day of the celebration, Alpha Jaehyun was planning to bring darkness over the city and the royal family. His steps were heavy, his aura was different today, his eyes kept flickering between brown and dark red.
Entering his father's chamber, Jaehyun looked at the Royal Alpha standing before the mirror, adjusting his golden color robe for today. Alpha Hyejin’s eyes traveled to Jaehyun through the mirror. “Look at what they gifted us.” Hyejin had his eyes back to his clothes.
Jaehyun looked at the table adorning boxes of precious jewels, diamonds and pearls, a few royal clothes and boxes of sweets given by the royal family of Ruwana.
“We'll leave tomorrow as soon as the dawn arrives.” Hyejin spoke clearly through the air. Jaehyun kept his eyes on the table while taking a seat on the chair across it. “We cannot.” Jaehyun let out when the royal alpha sat across from him, lifting up a glass of fruit juice.
Hyejin glanced at him, raising eyebrows in question. “We cannot leave tomorrow.” Jaehyun repeated his words, looking right at his father. Hyejin chuckled lightly while drinking from the glass. “And What makes you think I would like to stay in our long enemy's kingdom for more than necessary now?”
“Why did you even accept to come here if they're your long term enemy, father?” Jaehyun tilted his head, looking calm as ever. Hyejin crooked an eyebrow. “Since the last peace treaty years ago, this is the first time ever, one of the kingdoms extended a peaceful hand towards the other. King Chaewon was wise enough to invite us as our neighbor and it was my responsibility to accept it. But it doesn't change the fact that our kingdoms had stood in battle fields face to face several times.”
“Once an enemy is always an enemy, Jaehyun. The bitterness will always be there between us.”
Hyejin finished speaking before sipping on the juice. Jaehyun stares at his father for a moment. “I have a perfect solution for this bitterness to fade completely.”
Hyejin again glanced at Jaehyun before drinking the juice casually. “You are pestering too much on liking Ruwana. What changed? The air transformed you?” Hyejin mocked him, chuckling lightly, unaware of what was going on in his son's mind.
Did the air transform him? Jaehyun doesn't know that, nor does he care but one thing he's sure of, and that is someone has consumed him. Jaehyun can't think of anything but Princess Y/N. His thoughts go haywire looking at her. He himself doesn't know the depth of his obsession but he wants Princess Y/N.
He wants her. He desires her.
Jaehyun took a deep breath. Taehyung's warning words came across his mind, making his eyes flicker to red for a moment. His inner Alpha still cannot forget that insult thrown over him.
“Father.” Jaehyun calls , looking at the Royal Alpha who hums in reply. “Has it ever happened that a werewolf married a human?”
As soon as the question was thrown in the air, Hyejin’s eyes were quick at Jaehyun. The royal Alpha stared at his son before answering. “It has. Centuries ago, werewolves used to abduct human females to transform them into omegans to breed.”
Hyejin's voice was a little deeper saying that. “But that's not marriage.” Jaehyun let out. “Are you forgetting werewolves have their own mates to marry and breed?” Hyejin asked back, getting irritated sensing the path where the matter was going.
“I don't have a mate though.” Jaehyun spoke as a matter of fact. Although every werewolf has a mate who's destined for them only, who's fated to be with them. But there are cases where werewolves cannot find their mates, majorly because their mates might be living miles away, perhaps in the very last part of the continent. So usually hope dies.
