22. Wrathful

"I hope King Chaewon, you've come to me with a happy acceptance." Royal Alpha Hyejin utters, standing in the middle of his guest chamber. The golden and silver heavy robe draped over his Shoulders, the Royal Alpha's smile was devious but he tried to make it look as inviting as he could. And before him stood King Chaewon with his head held high, adorning the golden crown embedded with diamonds.

"Look at this, King Chaewon, I've even ordered all the gifts from Wolfsbane to seal the marriage acceptance." Alpha Hyejin gestured towards a table full of precious jewels and items.

King Chaewon looked at that but his eyes were unwavered when he gazed back at the Royal Alpha. Something in the highly confident aura of King Chaewon gave different signals to the Royal Alpha.

"I fear you'll have to take them back to Wolfsbane, Royal Alpha." King Chaewon stated, polite yet crystal clear in putting forward his intentions. Hyejin frowned, a small smile still playing on his lips, his eyes directing questions to the King. "King Chaewon, I didn't understand? I thought you had understood my wishes for this marriage relation."

Chaewon's gaze averted to somewhere else before looking back at Hyejin with a blank expression. "I understand your wish and intentions for this marriage relation between our families but I apologize Royal Alpha, I ,King Chaewon, reject this marriage proposal for my daughter." The king's authoritative voice boomed in the chamber.

As soon as the words of the King fell into Hyejin's ears, his face went blank, unreadable to be precise. But Chaewon didn't back down from speaking his side further. "We are from completely different cultures, Royal Alpha. I don't doubt your son's abilities but he's not the suitable partner for my daughter Jeong Y/N. We don't have any background of marrying our daughters into werewolf families, nor do I plan to change our tradition."

Insult. Complete insult. That's what Hyejin felt by the rejection from the King. The royal Alpha's face hardens, his palm fisting tightly as his orbs flashed golden. Wolves are born to be the superior ones, especially Alphas, no one has the ability or right to reject them. That's what the orthodox have taught the wolf community.

"King Chaewon." Hyejin let out controlled anger visible in his tone. Facing the rejection on his face is an insult to his royal authority. Chaewon stays grounded, he knows he has to handle the situation calmly. If he lets the fire ignite then it'll burn Ruwana for years. Chaewon has seen wolves' brutality and wrath for the worse.

But for that fire to calm, he will not trade his daughter. Never.

Royal alpha stepped forward with a frown glued to his face. "I'm still giving you a chance to undo your decision, King Chaewon." Hyejin persuades the King once again.

"My son Jaehyun wants your daughter Y/N to be his Queen. For my son I'm ready to forget our old bitter rivalry. This is even more beneficial to you if you build marriage relations with us, none of the wolf kingdoms will ever dare to lay a finger on Ruwana. Then why can't you accept this proposal King Chaewon?"

Chaewon's furrowed brows flattened as soon as he heard about Jaehyun wanting to marry Y/N. Chaewon and Gwanjong have wondered what triggered Alpha Hyejin to suddenly put such a proposal forward but now he knows. It's none other than Jaehyun's wish. And talking to Hyejin, it tells about wolves' stubborn nature a lot.

Their level of stubbornness is pure evil. Either they snatch what they want or they destroy it to let nobody else have it.

Chaewon meet Hyejin's eyes before speaking. "Ruwana don't trade daughters for peace, royal Alpha."

Chaewon smiled lightly and Hyejin almost poked his cheek with blank orbs, his palm fisting on his side as he stared at Chaewon.

"My Daughter Y/N cannot marry your Son Jaehyun nor Can I accept this proposal because my daughter's marriage has been already arranged with Raventhore's elder Prince, Kim Taehyung." There was a warm smile dancing on Chaewon's lips as soon as he took Taehyung's name as if the King never thought of marrying his daughter to anyone else.
