CHAPTER 5:
"Oh! God why?" I groaned, as I saw him walk towards the stage.
"Ok everyone. This is Aarush, and he will be joining us for our Dance-a-thon performance." Mrs. Iyer announced. "Aarush, I'm sure you'll have fun working with the Rockstars" she smiled at him.
"I'm sure of that Ma'am. I promise to work hard and give it my best." he replied, sincerely. I rolled my eyes. He surely acted well.
"So Aarush, let me introduce you to your dance partner." Mrs. Iyer's words made me look up, and I focused on breathing evenly as she lead him towards where I was standing.
"This is Triya, your partner. She is an amazing dancer and I'm sure the two of you will be perfect together". I didn't know whether to smile at the compliment, or frown, now that the dreaded moment had come. I settled for a quick smile and shook his outstretched hand. From the corner of my eye, I could see Ree smirking at me, but ignored it.
We took our positions on the stage and waited for Mrs. Iyer's instructions. She taught us a few steps and asked us all to practice them. It took us some time to co-ordinate, but after an hour of practicing, we got it right. Since the routine was to begin with a group performance, we did not have to pair up today. It was a relief, since Aarush wasn't next to me, or anywhere close.
As soon as the practice was over, Ree rushed towards me and pulled me aside. "Lucky b***h. How was it? Spill the beans!" she punched my arm playfully. "How was what? If you haven't noticed, we weren't paired up." I pointed out. "Yes. But I did see you smiling at him. And you held his hand. How did that feel?" she asked, almost jumping as she did. "No electricity, if that's what you're asking." I rolled my eyes at her. Ree had always been this excited girl. She was enthusiastic and fun to be around. And she was the best 'best friend' in the world. I know I'm being cliché, but can you blame me?
"You know you are the most disappointing creature, right?" she frowned at me. "Yup. But you still love me, don't you?" I pouted, batting my lashes. "Yes!" she laughed aloud, as we headed to the parking lot.

After the practice and my working out on the thread-mill, I couldn't even muster the energy to go downstairs for dinner. So I told mom I had homework, and skipped dinner. As I Iay down on the bed, I felt my vision blur. I shook my head and closed my eyes. When I opened them, I could see clearly, but the momentary blur had scared me. I blamed it all on stress, and deciding that I needed some sleep, curled up and closed my eyes.
I must've barely fallen asleep, when I felt my head throbbing. I sat up and pressed my forehead, only to find that I was drenched in sweat. When I got out of bed to open the window, I felt my knees buckle and my head spin. It was dark in my room, and the last thing I saw was the faint glow of my alarm clock, before passing out.
