"Hey, have you seen Scott?”

Isabelle shrugged as she pulled out the notebooks she needed for her next class. “I’m pretty sure I saw him and Allison skip.” Lydia had texted Isabelle last night and told her that Allisons birthday was today. And after a lot of begging, which mostly consisted of Lydia bombarding her with messages till she had to agree.

Lydia wouldn’t be coming to school today, which is why that left Isabelle to pick up the balloons and a birthday card she signed in her name and Lydias. She ripped open Allisons locker and struggled for a good 30 minutes to stuff the balloons inside.

It was sweet that Scott took Allison out for her birthday, they could both use a distraction. Especially Scott. It wasn't easy to transition to a werewolf and then having to help find the alpha.

Stiles raised a surprised eyebrow. "Really? Wow I didn't think he'd have it in him."

Isabelle nodded in agreement. "Although I particularly think he was only able to do it because Lydia wasn't here to foil his plan."

Stiles stood up straighter at the mention of Lydia. "She's not here? Why?"

"Geeze I don't know Stiles. Maybe because of a traumatic experience involving the alpha and her boyfriend?"

Stiles smiled sheepishly when he remembered. "Right. We should check on her, don't you think?"

“I talked to her mom, Lydia’s just taking a day. If you want to go see her, by all means go.”

Before Stiles could press her more about what she meant, Harris walked up. He wasn't wearing his normal stoic face, he was actually wearing a genuinely concerned look that freaked Stiles and Isabelle out.

"Isabelle," Harris said, whispering quietly so the rest of the students wouldn't eavesdrop. "If you need to leave at any moment-"

Isabelle quickly cut him off. "I'm okay. Thank you." This is what she was afraid of. Everyone showed her sympathy. It was weird. She wasn't used to that kind of treatment. Harris nods respectfully and goes back to his desk.

"I'm surprised you aren't jumping at the opportunity." Stiles said as Isabelle pulled out her notebook. "Yeah well, my grades suck right now."

Once the bell rang class started. And Stiles began to highlight several sentences in the chemistry book.

"Just a friendly reminder-- parent-teacher conferences are tonight!" Harris reminded the class. "Students below a C-average are required to attend. I won't name you, because the shame and self-disgust should be more than enough punishment."

Teacher parent conference. What a nightmare. Isabelle muttered a curse. "Great, with my luck Derek will actually end up coming." Even as she said it, the thought made her laugh. She tried to imagine Derek showing up and couldn't. He never showed up to school events in New York unless it was things like festivals. Parent teacher conferences? Not so much. That was Laura's area.

Stiles chuckled nervously. "My dad is going to kill me."

"Has anyone seen Scott McCall?" Harris asked, looking at Scotts empty seat. Stiles was about to say something before Jackson walked in the class. He looked paler than usual, which probably had something to do with what happened last night.

Harris approached Jacksons table, giving him the same assuring words he gave Isabelle. Jackson can only nod, he's still visibly shaking. And Isabelle almost pitied him. "Everyone, start reading chapter nine. Mr. Stilinski, try putting the highlighter down between paragraphs. It's chemistry, not a coloring book."

Stiles glared and popped the highlighter cap up in the air, catching it in his hand. He then caught sight of Danny behind them. He had a question that no one had answered. If anyone could answer it would be Danny.
