UNDER THE FULL moon's glow, early morning cloaks Senlin Village in tranquility. The village lies quiet, nestled among trees whispering in the gentle pre-dawn breeze.
Aang struggles with Appa's reins, urging the stubborn bison to stand.
Aang: "Let's go, Appa! Come on, boy!" Despite his efforts, Appa only bellows in protest, firmly seated on the ground. Aang's voice softens as he addresses Appa, his tone tinged with regret. "Look, I'm sorry, but they aren't coming to the Fire Nation with us." He casts his gaze downward, burdened by the thought. "If they got hurt, I'd never forgive myself." Straightening up, he commands more firmly, trying to hide his reluctance, "So get your big butt off the ground and let's go!"
Pulling with renewed vigor, Aang attempts to coax Appa into rising. However, the bison remains immovable, causing Aang to stumble and land squarely on his backside. Sitting on the ground, Aang looks momentarily defeated.
From nearby, Sokka's voice slices through the quiet, filled with a hint of amusement.
Sokka: "I think his big butt is trying to tell ya something."
As Aang twists around, searching for the source of the comment, he notices a group of Senlin villagers gathered behind. Y/N, Katara, and Sokka are at the forefront, each ready to support Aang.
Katara: "Please don't go, Aang. The world can't afford to lose you to the Fire Nation."
Aang: "But I have to talk to Avatar Roku to find out what my vision means!" He turns away, his responsibility clear in his expression. "I need to get to the Fire Temple before the sun sets on the solstice. That's today!" His urgency is visible as he airbends himself atop Appa's head, looking back at his friends with determination and sadness.
As Aang prepares to leave, Katara, Sokka, and Y/N block Appa's path, standing resolutely before the giant bison.
Katara: "We're not letting you go into the Fire Nation, Aang." Her stance is firm, mirroring her words.
Sokka: "At least, not without your friends." Aang looks at him curiously as Sokka continues, "We got your back." Momo, joining in the moment, flies up to perch on Aang's shoulder, and Appa affectionately licks Sokka, who reacts with disgust, "Ew!"
Y/N: "I..." Y/N sighs. "I know the fastest way, but you're not going without us." His calm yet assertive tone shows his readiness to stand by Aang's side despite the uncertainty of returning to the Fire Nation.
Aang's initial resistance melts away into a grateful smile. He gestures expansively for his friends to join him on Appa.
Senlin Village Leader: "It's a long journey to the Crescent Island." He hands Aang a small bundle, his voice underscored with urgency. "You'll have to fly fast to have any chance of making it before sundown. Good luck."
Aang: "Thank you for your—" He begins, only to be cut off abruptly.
Senlin Village Leader: "Go!" He interrupts sharply, his voice raised as he points decisively toward the ocean, signaling the immediate need for departure.
With the command given, Appa takes to the air, carrying Y/N, Aang, Momo, Katara, and Sokka away from the village. The bison's mighty tail beat against the air, propelling them forward on their critical mission.
⌞Later⌝
Day breaks, revealing an endless ocean beneath you as Appa charges through the sky. The tension among you is much felt.
Aang: "Come on, boy, we've got a long way to go. Faster!" His voice is both encouraging and urgent, trying to will more speed from the already exhausted bison.
