The train ride home for the weekend was filled with a comfortable silence. Midoriya, his head resting against the window, watched the familiar landscape blur by. Bakugo, uncharacteristically quiet, tapped his foot impatiently against the floor.
Their behavior wasn't lost on their mothers,Mitsuki Bakugo and Inko Midoriya, who were waiting eagerly at the station. Having received a text from their sons about their impending arrival, the two women stood chatting excitedly, their conversation filled with anticipation.
"Isn't it wonderful they're spending the weekend together?" Inko gushed, a wide smile on her face. "They seem to be getting along much better these days."
Mitsuki snorted. "Yeah, 'getting along' is one way to put it. Katsuki wouldn't be caught dead spending time with Deku unless there was a villain attack involved."
Little did they know, the reason behind their sons' silence was far from villainous. The weight of their secret relationship hung heavy in the air, especially after the very unexpected encounter with Nejire. Midoriya, usually brimming with nervous energy, felt a strange hesitation. Bakugo, fuming internally about the whole "sparkling hero" situation, found himself uncharacteristically quiet. As the train pulled into the station, the doors hissed open. Midoriya and Bakugo stepped off, their movements slightly awkward. Their mothers rushed forward, enveloping them in warm hugs.
"Izuku, dear! How was school?" Inko inquired, pulling back to scrutinize her son's face. She noticed a faint blush creeping across his cheeks, and a small, involuntary smile playing on his lips.
"It was good, Mom," Midoriya mumbled, averting his gaze. Meanwhile, Mitsuki wrapped her arms around Katsuki, her voice laced with mock concern. "Katsuki, you look like someone stole your explosions. Did Deku finally manage to annoy you into submission?"Bakugo, caught off guard by her teasing, sputtered incoherently. He opened his mouth to retort, then shut it again, his cheeks burning a suspicious shade of red.
Inko and Mitsuki exchanged a knowing glance. A silent conversation passed between them, filled with amusement and a hint of suspicion. Later that evening, after a delicious home-cooked meal filled with laughter and playful jabs, Inko and Mitsuki found themselves sipping tea in the living room while their sons "retired" to Midoriya's room."There's something different about them, don't you think?" Inko asked cautiously. "The way they blush, the way they avoid eye contact..." Mitsuki, a mischievous glint in her eyes, leaned forward. "I think they might be hiding something, Inko. Something... cute." Their conversation was interrupted by a muffled thump from upstairs, followed by a string of furious whispers that ended abruptly. The two mothers exchanged another knowing look, their suspicions growing stronger.
Later that night, as Midoriya snuck back to his room after a stolen moment with Bakugo under the starry sky, he bumped right into his mother, who stood in the hallway with a knowing smile.
"Izuku," she started gently, "is there something you want to tell me?"
Midoriya's face turned the color of a ripe tomato. He stammered and stuttered, unable to form a coherent sentence. Just then, Bakugo emerged from his room, his own face flushed with embarrassment. Seeing them caught red-handed, Midoriya blurted out, "Mom, Kacchan and I... we.." Bakugo, his bravado momentarily forgotten, mumbled a reluctant, "Yeah, what Deku said." Inko's smile widened.
She pulled both boys into a tight hug, her voice filled with warmth. "Oh, my boys," she chuckled, "you don't have to be so shy. I'm happy for you, truly." The news was met with a similar reaction from Mitsuki, who burst into the hallway moments later, her initial surprise quickly replaced by amusement and a touch of pride.
"Well, it's about time, Katsuki!" she boomed, ruffling her son's hair playfully. "Took you long enough to figure it out."
Despite the teasing, both Inko and Mitsuki offered their wholehearted support. Their unexpected weekend visit had taken a surprising turn, but it was a turn for the better. The revelation of their relationship, while initially awkward, had brought them closer to their sons, forging a new kind of bond between the four of them. Their lives, already filled with the chaos of hero work and villainous threats, were now sprinkled with a touch of domesticity and the heartwarming support of their families.
