The familiar cacophony of UA High buzzed around Izuku as he navigated the crowded hallways. A year had passed since Shie Hassaikai's attack, a year since the kiss that had sparked the return of their memories and irrevocably altered the dynamic between him and Bakugou.
They walked in a tense silence, a stark contrast to their usual bickering banter. The news of a new villain with a memory manipulation quirk hung heavy in the air. This wasn't just any threat; it was a chilling reminder of their own precarious journey back to themselves. As they entered the classroom, a hush fell over the gathered students. Aizawa-sensei stood at the podium, his expression grim. He outlined the details of the villain, their quirk, and the potential for chaos. Izuku couldn't help but fidget in his seat. His mind drifted back to the sterile white room, the hazy feeling of his memories returning in a rush triggered by the kiss. The vulnerability of it all sent a shiver down his spine.
He stole a glance at Bakugou. The usual bravado seemed dimmed, replaced by a flicker of unease in his crimson eyes. Their gaze met briefly, a silent understanding passing between them. This threat was different; it touched a nerve, a memory etched in their minds that forever tied them together. During the briefing, Aizawa-sensei announced a task force. There was no question they would be involved. They may not have spoken about the kiss, the emotions it unlocked, but they understood each other on a deeper level now.
They were partners, bound not only by duty, but by a shared vulnerability.
As the class came to an end, Izuku lingered behind with a determined glint in his eyes. Bakugou raised an eyebrow, a scowl etched on his face. "This new villain," Izuku began, his voice low, "it hits close to home, doesn't it?" Bakugou crossed his arms, a defensive posture. "Don't get all sappy on me, Deku. We'll handle it, just like everything else." Despite the gruff response, Izuku saw a flicker of something deeper in Bakugou's eyes. He took a deep breath and forged ahead."Maybe," he said, his voice firm, "we should finally talk about it. About the kiss, about everything." There was a tense silence for a moment, then Bakugou let out a huff of exasperation. "Fine," he muttered, avoiding Izuku's gaze. "But let's not make a big deal out of it." A hesitant smile touched Izuku's lips. "Alright," he agreed. "Let's talk."
They stepped out into the deserted hallway, the weight of unspoken words hanging heavy between them. Bakugou leaned against the wall, arms crossed defiantly, while Izuku fidgeted, his heart hammering in his chest. "So, talk, Deku," Bakugou finally snapped, a hint of impatience in his voice.Izuku took another deep breath. "The kiss," he began, his voice barely a whisper. "It brought back everything, but... it also changed things, didn't it?"Bakugou's scowl deepened. He remained silent, but his crimson gaze flickered towards Izuku.
"I..." Izuku stammered, struggling to articulate the jumble of emotions swirling within him. "I realized... well, I remembered my feelings for you, Kacchan. The way I felt as a kid, the way I... still feel." The air crackled with tension. Bakugou's scowl faltered for a moment, a flicker of surprise crossing his features. He scoffed, but it sounded hollow.
"Don't be stupid, Deku," he muttered, his voice rough. "We're rivals. That's all there is to it." Izuku shook his head, his determination growing. "Maybe that's what we used to be," he said, his voice gaining strength. "But after everything we've been through, after the kiss... I can't ignore this anymore, Kacchan. I can't pretend I don't..."
He trailed off, his cheeks burning. He couldn't bring himself to say the words, not yet. But Bakugou seemed to understand. His gaze softened for a brief moment, then hardened again.
"This is a bad idea, Deku," he said, his voice low. "This villain, the memories... it's messing with your head."
"Maybe," Izuku countered, his voice firm. "Or maybe it's just that the kiss made me realize I can't keep these feelings bottled up anymore."
