17)Risk It All

Claude finished checking the subway station for upcoming threats, and he felt relief that there were none...for now.

The subway in Yeongha City looks just like the ones in New York;there are tunnels made of bricks, bedrock, and cement.

This is because the original director of the subway wanted the station to resemble the United States' subway station.
Claude and others expected the floor to be glazed ceramic tile; instead,the floor is just cement floor.

The construction of the station got postponed because the workers went on strike years before.The employees refused to continue working due to a business problem at their higher level.

Minju the female lead,Danielle the reporter,Mrs. Seon,and Seon Twin entered the subway station.They walk down the stairs carefully before finding Claude in front of the empty ticket counter.

Mrs. Seon winches at the stale smell of cigarette smoke, and pollution lingers in the air, as if it's frozen in time.A single lamp casts an ominous glow on the dusty floor of this underground station.

She told her daughters to pinch their noses because of the horrible smell.The clowns always leave their cigarettes on the floor after smoking.

Their eyes landed on the passenger coach of a train. The tumblehome of the train coach is full of spray paint, which written some not-so-good words.

There's a one-way rectangular tunnel because rounded tunnels are more resistant to collapse.

"Let's check the map."Claude walks to a large sign showing the map of the train trip.

"So this train will be heading straight to Seoul Central Station.Probably through a secret tunnel because nobody mentions anything about Yeongha subway." Claude explains.

Claude entered the operator room and activated the power.More lights turned on, thus brightening the station. "I guess this is the end,Danielle.When you guys arrive in Seoul,bring them to the hospital for treatment."

Claude said to Danielle, to which she replied with a nod.
"I can do that. Also, here's the director's address and a picture of his manor.
I'll bring the files; they contain everything we need to exposed him once and for all." She hands him a file.

"Thank you,I appreciated it."He replied, giving her a soft smile.Minju noticed his tone,it now comes as a relief that his family is safe,but at the same time, he is determined to take down director Tae-Sik Han.He turned his head to his dear sisters.

"Juna,Jihyo-ya, take care of mom for me." He said to them before placing his palm on top of their heads.He caressed them and patted their heads gently, making their eyes slowly get teary.

"All of this happened because of us, Jun oppa..."Jihyo is quavering while Juna starts to wipe some tears from her eyes.

"Nah,you guys weren't at fault.Now get on the train." He replied while smiling. He then hugged by his mother. He embraces his mother back by wrapping her in a bear hug.

"Please be careful, Jun. I want you to come back home after this..."Ahna said he caressed his mother back before she kissed him in the head.

"Gosh, you're smelly Jun..." She muttered, making him chuckle.

"I'll take a bath after this,I promise you." He said while bringing his mother onto the train.Minju and Danielle watch the heartwarming talk between the mom and son.

"You know how to operate a train?" Claude asked Danielle.

"Sort off. I used to learn from a friend."

"Then I'll get going with your mother and sisters. Goodluck Jun." The reporter taps his shoulder while passing him. She and Mrs. Seon, along with the twins, sit on the metal benches.
