Annabeth was just enjoying breakfast while fighting her inner demons with a fork and a copious amount of ketchup, when Will suddenly screamed at a higher pitch than Apollo could sing.
Almost every half-blood within a mile jolted up at the sound, preparing for battle and grabbing the deadliest weapon on hand. Which included Annabeth, who grabbed the nearest butter knife and stood up with murder in her eyes, searching for the source of the noise. Will Solace.
Who'd fallen backwards off the bench at the Apollo Cabins table.
The seat next to him which Annabeth could've sworn Nico was inhabiting, was now empty. What Annabeth would guess was Nico's food, lay abandoned and half eaten on his plate."NICO?!" Will exclaimed horrified, looking up at the empty seat.
"What- where'd he go- why-" Will sputtered, looking completely panicked, his half sister Kayla now kneeling down on the ground next to him trying to calm him down.
Will was stammering incomprehensible things, apparently very confused and freaked out as to why his boyfriend had disappeared in less than a second as he sneezed.
A bit overdramatic in Annabeths opinion, disappearing boyfriend's wasn't something she was all that unused to. But to be fair, her boyfriend was basically like a glowing sign with the words 'KIDNAP ME' spelled out in neon pink.
Deciding she probably ought to help, she swiftly stepped past her confused siblings, who were also watching the spectacle unfold. Annabeth might only be visiting camp for a short while, but she was still no less respected, so most of the other campers stepped out of her way as she weaved in between people and tables to reach the Will and Kayla.
Annabeth crouched down next to Will, who'd calmed down a lot more. Still sort of freaked out though.
"Care to explain?" Annabeth questioned, her stare going from annoyed to calculating as the blonde haired boy quickly launched into a detailed explanation of how Nico had supposedly dissapeared. He'd just vanished in the middle of a conversation, which sort of ruled out shadow travel since there'd be no reason for Nico to just straight up leave. (Probably not straight up if we're talking about Nico-)
Will seemed pretty insistent that Nico hadn't shadow travelled, because he'd been banned from doing it outside of an emergency.'Eating breakfast is not an emergency!' As Will had so wonderfully stated. Turning from panic to annoyance faster than Nico had disappeared.
Most of the other campers had finished their food by now and probably wandered off, so the mess hall was near silent save for Annabeth, Will and Kaylas' chatting, or in Annabeth and Will's case, bickering. The useless arguing went on for a surprisingly long time, not stopping until Kayla ended up yelling at them both to shut up.
Will just gave Kayla a sheepish grin in reply, realizing he completely forgot about the dilemma at hand while arguing with Annabeth.Kayla sighed deeply, massaging her temple.
"Maybe, instead of arguing, we should go get Chiron" Kayla sounded exasperated.
"Yeah ok" Annabeth agreed. She'd like to say she was above bickering and all for letting go, but her stubbornness protested. Which wasn't exactly good when talking to someone nearly as unrelenting as herself.
Will had just gotten off the ground and was dusting himself off, when they heard the unmistakable sound of... A goat?
Not just any goat.
Annabeth recognized this particular goat, she had gone on many quests with said goat in her teens, after all. She had to stop herself from grabbing the nearest sword and charge at whoever had freaked out Grover, because being a senior Demigod or whatever, probably meant setting an example for the younger ones.
