The next day at school, I walk up to Nancy on the way in. She moves with a certain nervousness, with a matching look on her face.

"Hey Nance. You okay?" I look at her concerned.

"Me? I'm fine, Callie. Is Barb with you?" She continues to look down at the floor.

"No, she told me she was going home with you..." I trail off and glare at her. I know just by the look of her what happened last night. Her hair is still a bit messy, her walk is off, and she seems so ashamed.

"Oh. M-maybe she left early, I'll see her in homeroom, I guess." She says.

"Yeah. Yeah, sure." I mumble.

"Um, there's Steve. I needed to ask him about... about homework." She begins to walk away.

"Hey, Nance?" She turns back towards me, "You forgot one over here." I move my hair out of the way and point to the area on my neck a few inches from my ear. She blushes and covers the hickey I had pointed out, and positioned her hair in front of it. I smirk a bit to myself an go to class. Luckily, we were watching a projection movie and I could be left with my thoughts.

I can't believe her. She lets him into her pants after, what, a week and a half? She's starting to look like Laurie, or Becky... And to think she would do that, after sending Barb, her best friend away, before going to a boys room?? It's disgusting. And him, of course he would do that. For a split second I thought he might not be so bad, but clearly I was mistaken.

Wait. Why do I care? I mean, sure, she's my best friend, and I want to protect her, but this shouldn't be my issue to solve. Ugh, where's Barb when you need her. I bet she would tell me that I need to let Nance be.

My thoughts are interrupted by the bell, and before I know it, it's lunchtime again. I look for Nancy, but there she is, sitting with Steve and his band of assholes. Maybe I should at least try to be nice... Yeah. I move over to them and gesture to a seat at the end of the table, which Nancy returns with a smile. I pull out the seat and pick at my food.

"Woah, are you okay?" Steve looks at mee with concern.

"I'm fine." I glare up at him.

"You sure about that? You look like you've been crying or somethin'." He says with concern in his voice. He must've noticed my eye bags. Well, of course I've been crying. Will is missing, Nancy's gone rouge, I can't find Barb, and I'm sitting with Steve goddamn Harrington.

"I'm fine, geez. Get your frostbite off the table, Perkins, before I lose my appetite." I glare over at Carol, then turn back to notice Steve still looking at me. Carol takes her foot off the table with a sarcastically kind smile.

"Hey, Tommy," Nancy glances over at him, "when you left, did you see Barb?" I nudge her under the table, questioning her with my eyes, to which she didn't respond.

"Who?" He asks.

"Barbara. She's not here today." I look over at him, stone-faced.

"I seriously have no idea who you're talking about." He leans down, leaning in with his elbows on the table, I assume trying to appear condescending, but I shoot him daggers and mirror his position.  Steve inserts himself between us.

"Come on, man. Did you see her last night or not." He asks, slightly annoyed, but not giving up his cool demeanor.

"No, she wasn't there when we left." Tommy replies, still looking at me intimidatingly, before leaning back again.

"Probably couldn't stand listening to all of that moaning. Oh, Steve!" Carol moans loudly, confirming my previous suspicions. I get an urge to hit her, but I control myself and walk away.
