That night, we went to Nancy's house and into her room, before Mrs. Wheeler sees us. Nancy lets me shower first, and I let the hot water cascade over my tired body. When I'm done, I change into some of Nancy's pajamas, and go back to her room while she showers. I helped Jon set up a place to sleep on the floor, and I plan on sleeping in the nook by Nancy's window. When Nancy comes back, she looks scared and very concerned. Jonathan sits with her and comforts her, and I sit in the nook, looking at the ceiling. I suddenly feel a presence outside of the window, and I whip my head around, seeing nothing, but a small flash of something, it was probably nothing.

"Better?" Jon asks.

"Yeah." She stared at the floor and I nodded, understanding her lie.

Jonathan gestures to the blankets on the floor, and I scoff at how obviously nervous he get when he is around her. "Is this okay? I found it in the closet. I can go home. I just figured . . ."

"Yeah, no. I don't wanna be alone. Do you?" Nancy points to us.

"No. No." Jon says.

"Oh, no." I agree. A few moments pass, and I close my eyes.

"Can you just come up here? Callie, you too." She requests. I'm not that stupid, I don't want to sleep with them, especially with the tension between them.

"Nah, you know, I'm good over here in your nook thing." I say, and she nods, Jonathan goes up and joins her, staying above the covers, and awkward look on his face. He looks over at her, then glances at the lamp to his right.

"Do you want the lights off, or..."

"On." Nancy interrupts. She seemed much more affected by the events, but I was still in shock over it.

"Yeah." He says. I can't really sleep in light, so I know I'm in for a long night, but if it's what will be better for Nancy, considering she probably needs rest the most.

"You know, Nance, it can't get us in here." I say, in a bad attempt to comfort her.

"We don't know that." Her voice radiates fear and concern.

Eventually, I fall asleep in the nook, my knees pressed to my stomach. I wake up to see Jonathan and Nancy sitting over a book, and the door knob rattling. I bolt up, losing my balance and rolling off the nook and onto the floor. I gasp, and cover my mouth.

"Honey, what was that? Are you up?" Mrs. Wheeler says.

"Yeah, I'm just getting dressed, I... I dropped a book." Nancy yells back shakily.

"Oh. Well, I made some blueberry pancakes!" She replies, with a bright tone.

"I'll be down in a second." Nancy says, I run my hands through my hair, then press a hand to my butt, hissing quietly in pain.

"Your mom doesn't knock?? Ow, shit!" I sulk. The two of them laugh at me for a second before explaining their plan to me, and we get ready. The three of us take turns going to the bathroom and changing. I pull an outfit out of my bag, and wear that. I leave my hair down today, and wear my glasses. The three of us go out the window and go to Jonathan's car? which is parked down the block. We bring a few weapons, including an axe, the gun, and a couple bats. He drives us to a nearby hunting and hardware store, and we browse the aisles, searching for anything that could help us.

I walk around the store and see a bear trap in one of the aisles. My eyes widen and I put it into the basket I found at the front of the store. I also get some nails, thinking we could hammer them into the bats. I find some pepper spray, and decide to buy it for myself just for kicks. I find Jonathan a few rows away and stop him.
