Never go a day wondering why or having regrets about the past. Life is too short for that.
3 days earlier
"Damn this hotel room is nice." Josh looked over the presidential suit that he got for the business trip to Cuba.
Josh was Damon's best friend since freshman year in high school. He has been in the game since he was 18. He wasn't the biggest drug dealer but he made enough to live."Yeah it is nice but, Josh I dont have a good feeling about this." Damon didn't see what was wrong with their old connect in Columbus.
"Nigga these Cubans got the purest shit out. If we make this deal not only will we be making twice the money we making now but, more niggas will know who the fuck I am and you can get out the game sooner. Its a win win for the both of us."
Josh may have been in the game longer than him but, it seem like Damon had more common sense. Why would the biggest drug lord in Cuba want to make a deal with a small time drug dealer in Dayton? Something just don't seem right.
"Aight man just as long as I make it home before Christmas. Monica was already down my throat about coming here in the first place."
Damon sat down on the bed and rested his head in his hands."Dont worry the meeting is tomorrow. Once we make this deal than we can be on our way.". Josh knew that his friend was not cut out for this. He was a family man and Josh respects that. In his mind this deal will help Damon get to his goal and get out of the game.
The next day the deal did not go as planned.
Damon's gut feeling was right. Something was not right about the meeting. It turned out that Dinero, the Cuban man who wanted to do this meeting with josh and Damon was asked by his son Hector to take them out.Hector and Josh have been enemies since they both started in the business. Josh ended up taking some of Hector's territory and thats how the beef between the two began.
Josh was ready for anything and ended up killing dinero with the help of Damon.
They both made it to the plane and was on their way back to the States."Man this is some bullshit! Now my fucking life is on the line because yo ass wanna be greedy and shit! I dont have time for these Mexican niggas to be on my ass I got a wife and a daughter to take care of!" Damon threw his hands up in frustration. He couldn't believe that he put himself in this situation that could have been avoided if Josh wasn't being greedy.
"They Cubans and dont worry I'm going to handle it." Josh seemed calm on the outside but on the inside he was freaking out. He really didn't know what to do but he didn't want his friend to worry about it .
"Whatever nigga." Damon knew he should have never went into this business with Josh. He regrets the day he agreed to do this. All he wanted was to make fast money for his family to survive off of. He should have followed his right mind and got a second job but allowed Josh to convince him into selling drugs. Now he's stuck with asking himself why?. Why didn't he just got the second job? Now his life and his family's could be in danger.
Christmas Day
Family and friends were gathered at Monica's house. Today was supposed to be filled with joy and happiness but instead was filled with sadness.
Damon being killed right in front of the house was something Monica couldn't get over. She was broken inside but she had to be strong for her little girl. Seeing her father die like that must have been traumatic for a six year old girl. Paradise has not spoken a word since yesterday.Damon's mother Ava, was in the living room with Monica and her mother, Diane.
"Monica I'm really worried about Paradise. She has not said a word to anyone and has been in bed all day. I just want my grandbaby to know that she is loved and that we are here for her." Ava said. When she got the news that her son was killed, she couldn't handle it. She was content with it now but still couldn't believe that her son was gone.
"Mama I have tried to comfort her the best way I could. But what else can I say to her for her to understand the situation? The only thing she knows is that her father is not here anymore and that her Christmas was ruined." Monica couldn't even begin to think of the pain her child must be feeling she didn't know what to do or say to comfort her.
Monica has kept her emotions under control but everything was starting to get to her and even though she didn't want to question God she couldn't help but to think Why?She broke down. She couldn't take it anymore.
"Why lord?! Why did you have to take him away from me? Why do I have to feel this pain? Why did my little girl have to see him die like that? Why?!" Monica cried into her mother's chest. She felt lost and vulnerable. She couldn't help but to blame herself for this happening. If she would have told Damon how she really felt about him selling drugs, he would have reconsidered getting the second job instead and he would probably still be here.
"Monica look at me." Diane said firmly. Monica looked up with red puffy eyes.
"Yes?" Diane took a breath before speaking.
" I know you probably blame yourself for this but this is not your fault. God knew this was going to happen and you cannot question his reasonings. I loved Damon with all my heart and I hate that he had to die that way but there is nothing you can do about how things happen. You must accept it and be strong for your daughter."Monica knew here mother was right but she couldn't help but think about that day Damon told her he would be selling cocaine with Josh to make extra money. She regrets. not telling him no. She regrets not trying to convince him otherwise. Now he's gone and her daughter has to live with the horrible memory of losing her dad.
Monica brother, Rashad, was standing off to the side. He had an angry look on his face that eveyone in the room noticed.
"What's wrong with you, why are you looking like that Rashad?" Diane asked.
"What I don't understand is why the fuck Josh's ass ain't here. He was Damon's best friend and the reason he started selling in the first place. I think that's fucked up man something aint right about that."
'I know you better stop cussing around me boy! I dont care if you thirty or not you can still get these hands!" Monica smiled for the first time today after that. Her mother was never the one to sugarcoat anything."I'm sorry Mama but, something ain't right about that. He hasn't even called to see how Monica or Paradise is doing." Rashad shook his head and walked off into the kitchen. What he said was weighing heavy on Monica's mind. Josh has not been heard from all day and that worried her.
She didn't want to think that Damon's own best friend would have something to do with him getting killed.Josh loved Damon like a brother and did every and anything for Paradise. Monica just knew that he would never do something like that.
Excuse any mistakes.
