Chapter Seven - forget

CARTER RICHMAN

I glance at Rudy to make sure she's alright.

Earlier I felt her worry through our bond than I remembered we're not yet mated. Then I heard her howl and suddenly I didn't care whether it was normal or not.

My mate had been in trouble, and I was going to help her.

"So this is the other one?" Alpha Calista comments as we all walk back toward the pack house.

Other...?

Had they seen Ethan?

No, Ethan and Rudy weren't on the best terms... right?

"Mom this is Carter, Carter you know who she is." Rudy says. I bow my head in respect and Alpha Calista smiles at me.

"Nice to meet you Carter, dear. We had the... blessing of meeting your brother already." Calista says.

I cough, "How?"

If he ruined any chance of them not liking me, I will slit his throat.

"Apparently he didn't like my daughter leaving your house without his knowledge, and he made that perfectly clear when he barged in on us in the middle of a meeting." Calista says laughing slightly.

"Oh, I'm sorry about him, he's just-" I try to speak but Calista cuts me off.

"Don't cover for him. You are not your brother, Carter." she says, putting her hand on my shoulder in a way a mom would her son.

I felt comforted in a way I haven't in a while. Not that my mom wasn't great but...

Maybe it has something to do with her ranking.

She's the Luna, the protector.

I smile warmly up at her, and she smiles back.

We walk into the pack house and stop inside.

"I -I -I'm not being taken to another c-cell, am I?" The rogue named Jane asks looking anywhere beside Parker.

"No. Of course not." parker says, surprisingly not stepping closer to the girl.

Another cell...?

"I'm sorry, girl, but technically you are still a rogue inside our territory...." Calista trails off, Alpha Rhett nodding beside her, his hand on the small of her back.

"Calista please... she's, my mate." Parker murmurs.

Calista sighs at her brother but Alpha Rhett's the one who speaks up.

"I think my mate made herself clear. The girl will be fine... Calista locked me in a cell back in the day too." Rhett says, making Calista giggle.

"Well, if you haven't noticed, we are not you and Calista. So, stop acting like it." Parker says, raising his tone to the Alpha.

Rhett's eyes form that familiar silver and he takes a few steps closer to Parker, "I understand your situation, Parker, I do, but do not forget who we are and who you are talking too." Rhett says, using his Alpha tone making everyone in the room besides Calista and Rudy, bow in submission.

"...Apologies Alpha's." Parker barely whispers.

"Maybe we can do something... if it was my mate's I wouldn't let you put them in a cell." Rudy says, earning everyone's attention.

"Your different darling." Rhett says to his daughter.

"And I'm not? In case you have forgotten Calista is my sister. We're as much family as her." Parker snarls.
