The meeting was long, two hours long. But I was ready. I gave my presentation confidently, making sure everything went smoothly. I pitched our project to the contractors, listing all the benefits. "We'll use the pink marbles from Jaipur to construct the pillars of the rooms." I explained.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Bhatia, our contractor, had some kind words as he said,"I think my team loved the pitch and the way the presentation cleared our doubts. You are lucky, Mr. Khurana, to have such a talented lady at your side," he said. I smiled and nodded.
Then, he introduced us to his son. His son, a tall man with dark hair and a friendly smile. He seemed more interested in me than our project because he constantly gave me a flirty look and I just didn't knew if he was even aware of us but, as Mr. Bhatia left, he introduced himself to me, ignoring Mr. Khurana's existence. "Hi Mayra, I am Anant Bhatia," he said, extending his hand. I shook it, wondering how he knew my name.
Then, he surprised me by saying, "You look prettier in person." I was taken aback. How did he know what I looked like? I don't use social media much, and I don't have any pictures online.
Before I could process it, Mr. Khurana interrupted. "I'll leave you two for further discussion. But Mayra, can you please come with me for a second?" he said.
I followed him outside the cabin, and he told me, "I think he is interested in you. Just flirt back. This contract is important for both of our careers."
I knew he was right. I had to do whatever it took to secure this contract to recover the loss I just had because of Vihaan. But I also had a rule-I don't mix my personal life with my professional life. So, I agreed to flirt with Mr. Bhatia but only within the boundaries of the office.
Mr. Khurana nodded and left, and I went back to talk to Mr. Bhatia about our project. But he didn't stop flirting with me. He complimented me on my lips, then my hair. I felt disgusted, but I forced myself to smile and blush, pretending to enjoy the attention.
As the clock ticked towards 5:35, I knew I had to leave. I had to be at the cafe by 6 p.m. anyhow , it was important too . "I'm not feeling well," I lied to Mr. Bhatia. "Can we continue this tomorrow?"
He looked concerned and offered to drive me home, but I declined. I had no intention of sleeping with him and I really have to focus on the projects right now.
I left the office at 5:45, hoping to make it to the cafe by 6:00. When I arrived, I saw him waiting already there, sipping on a coffee. I was relieved that he hadn't made me wait.
I walked into the cafe and approached him. "Thank you for coming, Aadvik," I said, trying to sound grateful.

"I am surprised that you called." I stated as I shook Mayra's hand. She smiled and said, "It was important. I don't know anyone else better than you to help me." I furrowed my brows, was she in any trouble? She seemed concerned but then she showed me some texts she received from an unknown number. The messages were creepy, commenting on her appearance and mentioning another girl, Aashika.
My breath got stuck in my throat as I read her name, the texts said, "Aashika looks pretty in crop tops." That made me furious. Who was this person, and why were they sending such creepy messages? I would not leave this man until he goes behind the bars. I guess my annoyance was evident from my face because Mayra intrupted me, "can you help me find him? I know you have some sources."
Mayra looked upset, and I could tell she was angry too. She never asks anyone for help but asked me, that is when I knew this was important so I agreed immediately. I had connections, and I was determined to get to the bottom of this.
I explained my plan to Mayra. "First, we needed to trace the number that the messages were coming from. Then, we could use that information to track down the person behind it. It wouldn't be easy, but I am confident we could do it." , she listened carefully and sat patiently as I dialed some numbers.
"Are you okay?" I asked, her face looked pale, as if she hadn't eaten for hours."You can have something other than coffee, you look tired." "No, I will just eat at home. I don't think I can eat right now." she said. "If you fall sick, we won't be able to do this. And I will need you to catch this fucker. So eat, I insist."
Mayra nodded, relieved that I was willing to help. We both knew how important it was to find out who was harassing her like this. Plus, my Lily was involved somehow, and I couldn't let anything happen to her either. I have to find who is this.
With our plan in place, we got to work. We contacted some of my sources and asked them to trace the number for us. It took some time, but eventually, we got a lead as he texted again, "In a cafe with Mr. Oberoi, What do you need from him? Money? Or is he now your friend. "
I was furious. He'd gone too far now. He was watching her each step. I looked everywhere but I didn't find anything suspicious. I noticed Mayra, she was strong enough to not be scared but I knew, She wasn't really feeling well with these texts. The next moment, my secretary called, "We found his location." "Text me. Right now." I said. It was already 8 p.m. by then, and Aashika had called Mayra twice asking where she was, but she kept dodging it. "You told her about this?" I asked. "No. But I will, today." She answered as she stood up with me. "You go to the apartment. I'll find him and make sure he receives the best treatment. " I said firmly. "No. I'll come with you. Besides you are doing this for me." Mayra insisted.
"It's not safe for you and I think you should not leave Aashika alone right now. Be with her. Leave this on me." I took my car keys in my hand and rushed to the car.And Mayra also left for the apartment.
As I arrived at the location I wondered if I was at right place. The house looked as if no one had lived here for ages. I roamed there for half an hour and returned when I couldn't find anyone.
I knew what I needed to do now. To catch the fish, you have to greed it to the net.
