As I continued crying, I eventually fell asleep.
I wished it was just a nightmare, something I could wake up from and find it all gone.
I don't want this nightmare to ever be a reality again.
Do I deserve this kind of pain? Of course not. No one deserves to feel this kind of pain.
As I woke up, I checked my phone and saw multiple texts and missed calls from Axel. Suddenly, there was a gentle knock on the door. I got up and opened it to find Natalie standing there.
"Let's go eat, Riela," she said with a smile.
"Are you feeling better now?" she asked.
"I'm not hungry, Talie," I replied.
"No, I know you're starving. It's already past 7 PM, you need to eat, no buts!"
"Fine."
"Good," she responded with a smile.
As we headed to the first floor, I shared with her,
"Axel called and messaged me."
"And then?"
"He asked me where I was."
"Don't respond to that jerk," she said firmly.
"Talie?" I called out to her.
"I'm heading back to the Philippines tomorrow. I've already informed Mom and Dad."
"Oh, that's great news!"
"Axel came by hours ago looking for you, but Xavier didn't let him in," she added.
"I even slapped him. That idiot doesn't deserve you, Riela!"
"He did?"
"Yes, he did."
"Why?" I inquired.
"I informed Aunt and Uncle about what happened earlier, and I informed Xavier and Axel's parents about Axel's actions," she explained.
"Are they angry?"
"Oh, more than just angry, their parents are disappointed by Axel's behavior."
"And I'm accompanying you to the Philippines tomorrow."
"Why? What about Xavier?"
"He knows and understands."
"And he knows how to deal with your foolish husband; Xavier will teach him a lesson."
"I've already booked our flight. We're departing at 9 AM tomorrow morning."
"Okay, thank you, Talie. I don't know what I'd do if you were leaving me."
"I'll never leave you, my Riela."
"Always remember that you're valuable. You're worth it. You're worthy of being someone's wife."
"No one can match your kindness towards others and to me."
"Always remember I'm here for you," she reassured me.
NEXT MORNING
I woke up to my alarm, having prepared my belongings since the previous night and now getting ready for the day.
After a refreshing bath and a bit of makeup, we had breakfast and headed straight to the airport.
After a few hours of travel, we landed in the Philippines.
Later, Xian informed us that he had come to pick us up, which was a relief. I hadn't yet shared with him what had happened with Axel in the Maldives, but I planned to tell him later.
Natalie and I waited a bit for Xian at the airport. Minutes later, Xian arrived and warmly greeted us.
"I missed you!" he exclaimed.
"I missed you too!" I replied.
"Okay, carry on as if I'm not here," Natalie teased, grinning.
Natalie was always the light-hearted one in our group of friends.
"Oh, Talie!"
"It's so good to see you! I missed you!" Xian expressed before hugging Natalie.
"I'm not really here, just my spirit!" Natalie joked.
We shared a laugh, and then Xian turned to me with curiosity.
"It's been a while since we last met! How's life? How's married life going?" Xian inquired.
"It's good, but you know, sometimes..."
"I have no idea," Xian chuckled.
At this, Natalie shot him a playful glare.
"Okay, I'm sorry," Xian quickly apologized.
"Let's keep moving forward," Xian suggested as he gathered our belongings.
During our journey, I confided in Xian about the events in the Maldives. He was upset and vowed never to let Axel see me again or he would confront him.
After hours of travel, we finally arrived back at the house. Mom and Dad welcomed us with warm hugs.
"How are you feeling now, Gabriela?" Mom asked.
"I'm okay."
"Actually, Auntie, she's not okay because of that idiot" Natalie interjected.
