My phone rings that night at midnight as I was about to fall asleep. I groan reaching over and unplugging it from its charger, "Hello?"
"Eleanor! It's me Ember," her voice is over-excited over the phone and I cringe at the loudness.
"What is it?" I ask, "You sound super happy."
"That's because I am! You'll never believe where I just came from," I can sense her smile through the phone and know exactly where she's been.
"Hmm... I'd have to guess Isaiah?" I laugh.
"Yes! He kissed me, Eleanor. It was probably the best thing that's happened to me in months," she sighs with relief.
"I'm so happy for you! Was it good?" I laugh again.
"So good," she laughs too.
"I definitely see you two going somewhere," I smile to myself, "by the way... where did you move from?"
"Arizona, why?" she asks, confused.
"I was just curious because I forgot to ask you earlier," I shrug to myself, "but anyways, you and Isaiah? Totally rooting for you two."
"Thanks, El. I'm so glad I have a friend like you," she giggles.
"I'm glad I finally have a friend that's not a boy. God, do you know what it was like just being friends with two boys for a year? Not as fun as you would imagine," I laugh.
"Oh, I could only imagine," she laughs back.
"I'd love to hear the details of your night, Em, but I gotta go to sleep because I'm exhausted," I yawn.
"Alright, goodnight," she hangs up the phone and I lean back onto my bed. Falling into a nightmare.
I stare at myself in the mirror. Black wings emerged from my back and I tilt my head as my dad comes up and stands behind me.
"You're The Black Angel, Eleanor," he says calmly.
"No I'm not," I scrunch my nose, confused.
"But I was, and now you are," he laughs.
"Dad? I'm not The Black Angel!" I scream at him.
"Yes you are! And you're going to kill all the humans and help the supernatural become the superior race," his face becomes angry.
"I'm not going to do that!" I yell at him, "This isn't you, daddy!"
He just looks at me, angrily. He places his hand on my left wing and starts tearing at it. I scream in shock and drop to my knees. Pain shoots through my like a bullet being shot through my heart. I start crying and look up at my father's face,
"Dad..." I whisper before waking up.
