I wake without Levi's arms around me and I shiver. I know he was there last night, I know. I roll out of bed and start dressing myself and getting ready for the day and then I notice something on my dresser. A golden chain with a charm at the end. The charm is a golden feather. A note is placed beside it and I pick it up and read it carefully,

For you, Eleanor.
Love- Levi

I smile to myself and then I put on the necklace and hold the feather to my lips, thinking. After this, I leave my bedroom and start down the stairs, but then I hear Aunt Gracelyn in her room talking, but no one else lives here but her and me. I backtrack my steps and head to her room and lean against the wall outside, and listen.

"...I know, I know, John. Yes, I understand," then she pauses for his response.

"Of course. Now, goodbye, John," and she hangs up her phone.

I quickly scurry down the stairs and into the kitchen before she would come out of her room and ask me what I was doing there. Why was she talking to Uncle John if he left her?

I walk the hallways of school with Ember, talking to her about Isaiah. She's been happier since last night, and I'm glad they're happy together. Then, Avery walks past us and bumps her shoulder hard against mine, pushing me back, and I hear her whisper, "Bitch."

"That's it," I say and grab her shoulder from behind, pulling her to the ground. Her head made a splitting crack sound as it hit the floor tile. She screams at the top of my lungs, but it doesn't affect me.

Someone grabs my shoulder from behind, a firm, strong hand. I turn around to find myself facing the new principle, Mr. Cassidy.

"Miss Eleanor Halewood, is it?" he tilts his head.

"Yes, and you? Mr Finn Cassidy?" I mock his tone.

"Principles Office, now," he leaves and I follow him to his office.

I stand in his office. I refuse to sit in one of the chairs that is set for me. He seats himself in his chair. I glare at him, with a challenge.

"Now, Miss Halewood. Care to tell me why you hurt Avery?" he asks me.

"She's hurt me before, and she called me a bitch in the hallway. It's called self-defense, especially in a school filled with supernatural," he licks his lips as I say this.

"I'll let you slide this one time, Eleanor, but I'll be calling your mother telling her about this," he informs me.

"My mother is dead," I squeeze my fists, "and so is my father."

"Then I'll call your guardian. Go to class before you're later," I storm out of his office and slam the door, heading to class.
