When Levi opens his front door his eyes fall on me. I see his face light up but it soon turns into sadness, he knows it's not the same. Then, he looks over to find Isaiah and sighs.
"Why are you here, Eleanor?" Levi grumbles.
"Because," my wound stings pain throughout my body, "we know who The Black Angel is."
Levi stays silent. He doesn't cheer and beg to know. He just stands there and glares at me. I can see the wheels turning in his head.
"You wanna know?" Isaiah finally speaks up.
"I already know, Myhre," Levi murmurs under his breath.
Isaiah laughs, "funny to hear you calling me my last name, but how could you possibly know?"
Levi begins to shut the door. Not like him, I think to myself and slam my hand to keep him from shutting it all the way.
"Eleanor, you need to leave," Levi begs me.
"Not a chance. May we come in?" I raise my voice.
"Eleanor," his voice warns, and I begin to tremble, but I hold my head high.
"Levi," I raise my voice more.
I see from the corner of my eye Isaiah's making sure Levi isn't going to try anything and it calms me. And it makes me feel braver.
I hear muffled voices come from inside the house, "You havin' a party?"
"Eleanor, you need to leave."
"I'm not leaving until I know what you're keeping from me and why you don't want to know who The Black Angel is!" I slam his front door open with all my might. Levi, too in shock, to stop the banging door.
My eyes wander the front foyer of his mansion. Then, I see the people gathered. Blake, Avery, Zoe, Gracelyn, and John.
"Eleanor," Gracelyn smirks, "I don't understand how you're alive. We were just discussing that. Care to join?"
Before Isaiah and I could make a break for it Levi grips my arm. Isaiah tries to push him out of the way, but John and Blake come over and hold him back. They bring us into Levi's foyer and kneel us down on the ground.
"We were discussing how I stabbed you through the stomach with the rare stone," she pokes my wound and I wince in pain, "and how John checked your pulse and you were sure as dead, but then this morning we come down to discover a pool of blood but no body. We were quite confused, but we assumed you were still alive, and now we have proof."
"What do you want?" My eyes fall on Levi, "are you working with her?"
"Eleanor," Levi begins to explain, but Gracelyn interrupts,
"He agreed to work for me when his brother offered it to him," she nods to Blake and he smirks.
"Why?" I ask Levi, my voice trembling.
"I loved you, Eleanor, and you broke my heart. Now, I'm getting my revenge," he says steadily.
I choke on something to say in return, but they don't come out. Isaiah grabs my hand and squeezes it, "Revenge?" I ask, "that's what you want?"
"Yes," Levi confirms.
"Now that you know Levi's working for me and you two have discussed it. We have something to discuss, Eleanor," Gracelyn interrupts.
"What?" I ask, my head high.
"How you lived. It seems impossible to all of us, but I think I understand why your mother tried to keep your golden wings hidden all those years. She didn't want me to realize you're a special kind of seraph angel. A daughter of an archangel and a seraphim, what an odd combination," she tilts her head.
"What do you want from me now that I can't die?" I ask.
"Peace, Eleanor. I hope for you to let us continue with our plan and for you to mind your own business. Don't get involved and we'll be fine, or I'll have to kill your new boyfriend of yours,"
She moves over to Isaiah and traces his lip with an acrylic nail, "what a lovely vampire. I can see why you chose him over Levi."
I clench my jaw, "you know nothing."
"I know you were in love with them both. You told me that yourself, but Isaiah Myhre? I wouldn't have guessed this was the one," she ruffles his hair and smirks and raises herself from the ground, "so what do you say, Eleanor, peace?"
Peace, such a rare word for all she's done. If I don't agree she'll kill Isaiah, and I'll have no one left who I can always trust, "Peace," I finally speak up.
Isaiah and I leave Levi's house in silence. They all watch us as we drive away. Isaiah holds my hand as he drives with the other, keeping his eyes on the road.
"She was going to kill you," I murmur.
"I know," Isaiah nods, "but we're okay."
"We're okay," I agree, "but what are we going to do? We can't just let her kill all those innocents."
"You promised," I Isaiah whispers.
"Some promises are meant to be broken," I smirk and look over to him, and he looks over at me and laughs. He knows I mean it. Together we will have to create our own army to stop Gracelyn.
