The knowledge of two quest takers vanishing into thin air spread across the camp like wildfire, sparking fights all over. The different cabins were once again in a state of panic, especially the younger kids who huddled together in anxiety to avoid being hurt by the God killer. Clarisse had to shoo away some campers from the shrouds reserved for Y/n and Luke, though her heart ached at the thought of any of her friends being hurt.

Yeah, she called them friends. You wouldn't catch her dead saying it out loud.

Ever since Hunter had been informed of the change, he had stopped coming out of his cabin altogether. He missed breakfast, lunch, and even dinner, staying in that self-assigned room like he had crawled into his cubby hole and had started to force himself to focus on a single thing. What bothered Clarisse the most was how he didn't seem to want to interact with her anymore either.

Normally, Hunter would make up some bullshit excuse to show up at the Ares cabin, but he hadn't done as much as call for her when he walked past her the morning before. She had seen him go to the Hephaestus cabin with something in his hand, and when he went back, their eyes met, but he didn't even utter a word to her. Not a single 'hi' or 'I'm fine, don't worry'.

The dark circles around his eyes were deep, his brown hair tangled in different places the last time Clarisse had seen him. It was very strange for Hunter, who put great importance on looking good whenever he left his cabin. From a boy who would spend at least an hour in the Aphrodite cabin to get their enchanted creams and hair gels, he had tumbled down to looking like a college student stumbling hard to meet some deadline.

The concern grew every second of the day, finally breaking her enough to make her walk up to Chiron.

The centaur was training some of the new kids, his arms crossed in front of him as he barked commands and points of improvement to the group practicing their sword swings. The skies were bright, allowing the campers to distract themselves from the situation weighing continuously on their young shoulders. They could almost forget the fact that a few of their very treasured campers were out looking for some crazy supernatural criminal and a traitor lurking among them. Rest assured, Chiron was tired of breaking up fights.

"What is it, miss La Rou?" He asked with a well-hidden sigh, expecting Clarisse to report another fight between cabins to him after he had specifically asked her not to engage directly.

Instead, she stopped in front of him, her lips pressed together as she watched the kids practice. As much as she hated it, she had to admit she missed seeing the annoying faces in camp. Picking fights with Percy and Luke too, how could she forget that?
