NEW YORK - SCARLETT'S CAR - A WEEK LATER
A week had passed since the chaotic events at Precision Dance Company, and life had slowly started to return to a semblance of normalcy for Violet, if you could call her current situation normal. Although most dance classes had been paused for the week, allowing everyone to process and recover from the fallout, Violet found solace in spending time with her friends and family.
As Scarlett drove through the bustling streets of New York City, the atmosphere in the car was light and relaxed, a stark contrast to the tension that had gripped them just a week ago. Rose chatted excitedly about her upcoming trip to France to visit her father, her eyes sparkling with anticipation at the thought of reuniting with him after so long. Despite the initial awkwardness between Violet and Rose in the aftermath of their confrontation, their relationship had quickly returned to what it was. By Thursday, when Scarlett picked Violet up from Alina's house, Rose had even met Violet's friends, becoming their newest obsession.
"I can't wait to see Dad," Rose exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement. "It's been ages since I last saw him, and I miss him like crazy."
Scarlett smiled warmly at her daughter, her heart swelling with love and pride. "You'll have a wonderful time together."
Violet glanced at Rose from the passenger seat, a pang of jealousy tugging at her heart. She couldn't help but envy the close relationship Rose had with her father, she didn't feel as nervous as she felt right now. She quickly shook off those thoughts, as she was happy that her sister did not have to feel this way with her dad. She was glad Rose had a great life.
"That's awesome, Rose," Violet said sincerely, offering her a supportive smile. "I hope you have an amazing time in France."
Rose beamed at her, her eyes shining with gratitude. "Thanks, Vi," she replied, her voice filled with warmth. "I'll be sure to tell you all about it when I get back."
As they neared the airport, Scarlett's expression grew somber, a hint of sadness flickering in her eyes as she glanced at Violet in the rearview mirror, her gaze filled with concern. "Are you okay, sweetheart?" she asked gently, her voice soft with empathy.
Violet nodded, offering her mother a reassuring smile. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, her voice steady despite the nerves fluttering in her stomach. "Just a little nervous, I guess."
Scarlett reached out and squeezed her daughter's hand, her touch offering a sense of comfort and reassurance. "Just remember, your dad and Blake said they are very excited to see you."
Violet nodded, her heart fluttering with a mixture of anticipation and apprehension. She knew that meeting her half-sisters was a big step, one that had been a long time coming. And even though the thought made her nervous, she couldn't deny the sense of excitement that bubbled within her at the prospect of finally getting to know them.
As they pulled up to the airport, Rose's excitement was palpable, her eyes shining with anticipation as she gathered her belongings. Scarlett parked the car, and they all got out, heading toward the entrance of the airport together.
Rose turned to Violet with a bright smile. "Thanks for coming with me, Vi," she said warmly, her eyes shining with gratitude. "I'm going to miss you while I'm gone."
Violet returned her smile, her heart swelling with affection for her younger sister. "I'll miss you too, Rose," she replied softly, her voice filled with warmth. "But I hope you have an amazing time in France."
With a final hug and a promise to stay facetime with each other, Violet and Scarlett made their way to the car.
As they drove to Ryan's apartment, the mood in the car shifted slightly. Scarlett glanced over at Violet, concern etched into her features. "Are you nervous about meeting your sisters?" she asked gently, her voice filled with empathy.
