SWASTIKA'S POV
"We have to give her, no matter what?"
I got startled when I heard maa voice, she was crying, but I wasn't able to understand properly what they meant by giving her, who they were talking about and for what?
"We don't have other options, ultimately they will take her,"
I heard my baba's voice, and it sounded like he was upset, I could feel tears welling up in my eyes, I didn't know what they were talking about, but I had a feeling that something was going to go wrong.
Maa crying got louder, and I couldn't control myself from knocking on the door, everything suddenly became quiet.
I couldn't hear the sound of maa anklet bells, I knocked again, and finally, the door slowly opened.
Maa's face was covered in tears, and it looked like she had been crying a lot, I took a deep breath and tried to smile.
But I could still see the pain behind her forced smile, she was still holding onto the door, so I couldn't see my dad.
"Maa, why are you crying?"
Her face went from smiling to being really scared, her face turned really pale, my eyebrows got really thin as I looked at her face, and then she opened her lips that were moving around a lot.
"I'm not crying, actually something gets into my eyes, that's why my eyes may look watery,"
She said, using her pallu to wipe her eyes, she's doing her best to hide that thing, Madhur tapped my shoulder to get my attention.
I tilted my head and glanced at him, he was pouting his lips, I looked at him with confusion, mainly because I was focused on maa's behavior.
It took me a little while to understand, he's hungry, I shook my head and turned to look at my mom.
She was avoiding eye contact, which made me even more certain that they were both hiding something from me.
I decided to address this later, but first, the thing that's important right now is that food was getting cold.
"Maa let's go, food is getting cold," I murmured in a low voice.
"Okay, we are coming,"
Maa said and spun around while avoiding eye contact, that's weird she never behaved like this, she went inside the room maybe to call baba.
I turned around to go back still with little conversation playing on my head, which girl they were ready to give someone, did they are talking about Munni.
But she just gives birth to a baby boy, they can't I will not let them, they can't give her to anyone she's like my friend.
"Didi, what are you thinking about?"
My train of thoughts was interrupted by Madhur's gentle voice, he softly held my chin in his tiny fingers, looking as innocent and adorable as always.
Whenever I gaze at his face, I can't help but smile, he's just like any other normal child, so innocent.
I really want to provide him with the best life possible, I want to earn money and spend it all to make his life amazing.
I want to give him what I never had, however, growing up in a conservative family, but maa, baba never allowed me to continue my studies or earn money to pursue my dreams.
