As it turned out, one movie quickly became three. Cronan originally put on Matilda, however, after learning I'd never seen it, a conversation was started and he determined I had to watch some other "classics" as he put it. I didn't mind though. I considered the fact that he was willing to spend time with me after everything to be a good sign.

I fully expected Cronan to ignore me after we slept together or to act like it didn't happen, so to say I was happy that wasn't the case would've been an understatement. Though I didn't know what this meant for us. I knew he was still clinging to the idea that what happened wasn't anything important and maybe it wasn't at the moment, but that didn't mean it couldn't change.

"I was thinking—"

"Should I be worried?" Cronan interrupted and I rolled my eyes.

"Hush and let me finish. I was thinking that you and I could go out to eat somewhere together. You know? Like a—"

"No," Cronan instantly denied, making me frown.

"Why? Why are you so determined to thwart my attempts to get to know you better."

He eyed me in a lazy manner that I had to admit fueled my frustration a bit.

"It's not that. We agreed to keep a low profile and I don't want to have to explain to Callie why you and I are hanging out apart from our few drunken encounters for one. Two, with all the new rogues in the area, it wouldn't surprise me if pack wolves were wandering around. It's not worth the risk right now."

Would it ever be "worth the risk" to him?

"And three being you just don't want to spend unnecessary time with me, right?" The reply came out more snappy than I intended.

Cronan frowned. "You're putting words into my mouth."

"So if I were to ask you to eat with me what would be your answer?"

"I just said—"

"Not out at a restaurant, but here," I clarified. "I could make something. You know, like when I made that pasta."

He raised an eyebrow. "You mean when you tried to burn my house down?"

I frowned. "I didn't."

"You did," he retorted, but his voice was calm which told me he wasn't being serious.

"Let's move on from that," I suggested. "I'll make something and we can eat together. What do you say?"

Cronan didn't answer immediately. He stared at me with a similar expression to when I asked him to watch a movie with me. Truthfully, I didn't understand all the hesitation. I thought he'd at least be open to the idea of a relationship with some—or rather, a lot—of convincing, but the more I got to know Cronan, the more it seemed like he hated the idea of relationships as a whole.
