"Yes," Cronan said and I watched from my spot on his bed with CJ as he paced around with a phone in hand. "Yes, I'm sure. I don't need more time to think about it." There was a little commotion on the other end, but I could tell by the blinding smile that broke out on his face that it was good news. "That's all? Thank you!"

He hung up the phone and dropped onto the bed, causing me to laugh. "So?"

"So, I'm officially no longer a member of The Emerald Ridge Pack," he told me.

"Yeah? How does that make you feel?" I questioned even though I thought the answer to be fairly obvious.

"Pretty good actually." He rolled over. "I thought I'd be more sad about it and all, but...I don't really feel bad if that makes any sense?"

"It makes perfect sense. You've already been away for quite some time and they weren't treating you well. It's natural that you feel happy about getting out of that environment for good," I explained as CJ moved down to nuzzle against Cronan's side.

I wasn't sure where his surprisingly cuddly behavior for my mate came from, but I wasn't against it. Cronan was a different story. He claimed CJ only wanted to be beside him because he could smell my scent on him more strongly now that we'd mated which might've been true, but I liked to think it was because the feline was warming up to him.

"It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders," he admitted, lightly pushing CJ away. "Now I just need to make it through today. Promise me you'll behave."

I rolled my eyes. "I already said I would."

"Promise me. I can't have you biting Arlo's head off halfway through the night. It would kill the mood."

"I'm not going to bite Arlo's head off. As long as he, or anyone else for that matter, doesn't try to touch you in a sexual manner then we're fine."

"Nobody will. Arlo has his mate."

"And I have you," I smiled.

Cronan returned my smile. "And you have me. So don't go getting extra possessive."

"Don't worry, I can control myself," I replied, raising an eyebrow at him. "Mostly."

Cronan shook his head. "Don't you have food you need to check on?"

"The food is basically done," I replied.

Cronan and I had somehow allowed ourselves to be roped into hosting lunch for our friends. They claimed it was because we all hadn't met before, but if you asked me, I think Penelope and Callie had been plotting.
