'Shannon, come down quickly or you will miss the bus.' Yelled Shannon's mother Smitha.

'Coming maa.' Shannon replied. She was busy packing her stuff. She wasn't sure if she had packed all her things, she was doing her last-minute checking.

A thirteen-year-old girl in the coming July. She was a thin lean girl with brunette wavy hair up to her breast. Her eagle eyes were of burnt sienna that made amber flecks in her iris with the arrival of a strong emotion. She smelled like rain and carnation flowers.

Shannon will study in Light at the prestigious 'Whitewood Academy'. It was one among the eight colleges in Light. She was going to turn thirteen within six months. The time for her to go to magic school, to study the art of magic has come.

The light was what Earth folks called the universe. In the entire universe earth was the only planet where magic was believed to be a myth.

Shannon zipped her bag and had a last look at her bedroom. Shut the door and went to her grandmother's room, to see her.

'Always stay happy and be safe.' The grandmother said placing her hand on Shannon's cheek. Suddenly a puffy Light and brown coloured Persian cat approached Shannon. It meowed with anger and started walking close to Shannon but a yellow-colored barrier glowed and didn't let the cat come any closer.

'Stay, stay Roger.' Shannon yelled. 'Why are you always after me.' Turning to her grandmother she continued. 'Why is every cat in the city, after me.'

Yes, it was true. Shannon had a weird skill of attracting unwanted animals towards her like cats, peacocks, and especially the mongoose. But some animals like rabbits, frogs, or small insects are afraid of her. Then some animals didn't react to her in any way. But this weird problem had made her life more complicated than ever. Her parents said it might be due to "some magical ability of hers". Hence, they had put a special magical bolder. Which, will not allow animals that want to harm her to come near her.

'Shannon, move away from that cat of yours.' A voice said in her mind.

This was the second problem she faced. A voice kept on talking to her. But no one could hear this voice other than Shannon. And the voice had strictly warned. No, no, threatened her would be the right word, to never speak about this matter to her parents.

'I am not going towards Roger. He is coming on his own towards me.' Shannon said in her mind to the voice.

'Just get away from it.' The voice replied, annoyed.

'Grandma, I am leaving. See you in two and a half months.' Shannon said turning towards her grandmother. Once she was out of the room. The voice continued. 'Can't you tell your sister to throw that cat away from this house?'

'No, I can't. Anet loves that cat more than anything. I can't ask her to throw it away. Anyway, we are going to Light. We will be far away from the cat.' Shannon replied loudly.

'Who are you talking to Shannon.' Alan asked coming out of his room. He was her smaller brother.

'No one.' Shannon replied uncertainly, her eyes glowed in amber flecks.

'Come on Shannon, we are getting late.' Mahesh said, appearing out of nowhere.

The family took off in their parents' car to the Light Dimension bus stop as the car pulled over. A big yellow bus was already there.

'Get in Shannon. Lila will be here shortly.' Said Mahesh who smiled at his daughter.

Shannon's mother hugged her and said, 'Goodbye, come back safe.' Then in a warning way. 'Do not talk to strangers, remember that.' Then kissed on her forehead.

Shannon insecure about herself said' in a confident voice' that she could make up 'Ma, I am going with Lila anyway.'

Smitha smiled at her daughter as she entered the bus. The only thing Smitha feels secure is about having to let- her daughter go with a girl who is four years older than her and studied in Shannon's academy.
