"OKAY," TESSA HUMMED as she scrolled through her Netflix on her laptop. "What do you wanna watch? It's up to you. Just nothing romance."
Beck released a hum as she sat back on Tessa's bed. "I don't care, it's your Netflix account."
Smiling, Tessa leaned over to throw her arm around Beck's shoulder. "You see, this is why we're best friends."
Beck released a laugh as the redhead released her. "And here I was thinking it was because of you trying to break into my locker freshman year and the surprising supernatural connection."
"No that was why I started tolerating you," Tessa clarified as she scrolled through her Netflix. "We became best friends because you get me."
"Oddly," Beck muttered under her breath, earning a punch in the shoulder. Rubbing her shoulder, Beck looked over at Tessa. "Can you believe that was almost three years ago?"
"I'm still trying to believe everything we went through in those three years," Tessa said.
Sighing, Beck nodded her head. The small blonde grabbed a pillow, holding it close to her chest. Pausing in her search for a good movie to watch, Tessa groaned internally at the scent she caught wafting off her friend.
"What's the matter?" The redhead asked, sitting up to look at Beck. The small blonde opened her mouth as she started shaking her head, but Tessa lifted her finger. "And don't lie to me. You should know better."
Sighing, Beck looked up at the ceiling before turning back to Tessa. "It's Liam."
Groaning loudly, Tessa shut her laptop before turning towards her best friend. "What did the idiot do this time?"
"That's the thing," Beck said, shaking her head. "He hasn't done anything. It just seems like he's been distant for the last couple of weeks. Like tonight, the lacrosse team has a night practice. I asked Liam if he wanted me to come a couple of days ago, but..."
"He told you no?"
"I would've liked it if he did tell me no. But he didn't. He didn't even give me a straight answer."
Tessa hummed, tilting her head. "When did you first notice he was acting weird?"
"Around the same time Mrs. Martin gave us that announcement."
"I'm still trying to believe that," Tessa exclaimed, a sudden smile appearing on her face. "I mean, we're seniors now. How did Mrs. Martin even manage that?"
"I don't know," Beck smiled at her friend's excitement. To be honest, she was excited too. In just a couple of days, Beck and her friends will be seniors a full year earlier than they were supposed to be. "But I did overhear Mrs. Martin tell Stilinski that she did it to get us out of here sooner for our safety."
Tessa shrugged as she opened her laptop again. "She probably doesn't want another mass murder happening in the high school. Don't stress about it. And don't stress about Liam. He's probably worried that he doesn't have the brain cells to get the grades he needs to graduate."
"Tessa," Beck laughed as she playfully pushed at her friend's shoulder.
"Come on, let's watch this movie," Tessa said, sitting back as she adjusted her laptop for both girls to see the movie she picked.
BECK STOOD IN line with her fellow senior classmates. It was time to register for classes. She held her schedule request form tightly in her hand.
The small blonde glanced around hoping to spot any of her friends. But she didn't see anyone she knew.
Sighing, Beck shifted in her spot as she was next to see the guidance counselor to get her schedule approved.
Just then the door opened slowly, Nolan Holloway stepped out. He had a far-off look in his eyes that seemed to vanish as his eyes slowly met Beck's light green eyes. Tilting her head, Beck gave Nolan a kind smile that he half-heartedly returned. Opening the door wider, Nolan stepped out of the way as he held it open for Beck.
"Thanks," Beck smiled as she entered the room. Unknowing that Nolan watched her pass.
Ms. Monroe looked up at the small blonde as she sat down in front of her. "Hello Miss..." Ms. Monroe trailed off as she took Beck's form she held out to her. "Hale. Rebecca Adalind Hale. That's a beautiful name."
"Thank you," Beck said as she watched Ms. Monroe look over her form.
Beck didn't know much about Ms. Monroe. She was fairly new. After Ms. Morrell had left, the small blonde knew that another counselor had taken the position. Some guy named Mr. Hammad or Hammer or something along those lines. Beck couldn't remember. All she did remember was that he had left around a year ago. Then Ms. Monroe was given the position.
Humming, Ms. Monroe looked up at Beck. "Now I have some concerns about your schedule."
"Okay."
"You signed up for three different art classes."
Beck shrugged her shoulders. "I like art."
"Okay," Ms. Monroe nodded. "Well, I would suggest taking less if it wasn't for how talented you are in the subject. Next, you want to take chemistry even though you are caught up on your science classes."
Beck smiled with a tilt of her head. "I've been thinking about my college plans and what I want to do after school. And... chemistry is a necessary class."
It was also similar to potion-making, something Beck wanted to work on.
"Okay," Ms. Monroe nodded in approval, writing something on the form. "Good for you for thinking ahead. Now, one last thing." Looking up at Beck, Ms. Monroe arched an eyebrow. "You want to take Latin?"
"Yes," Beck nodded.
"We do offer other language courses that are much... easier than Latin."
"I'm sure you do, but I wish to take Latin," Beck explained with a sweet smile. "Besides, Latin is the root source of a lot of words in the English language."
Latin was also the language of many of Beck's spells. The real reason Beck wanted to take Latin was so that she could better understand her spells. And maybe be able to write her own.
"Maybe you would be happier taking Spanish?"
"Ya hablo español. Deseo aprender latín." (I already speak Spanish. I wish to learn Latin.) Beck said with a smile.
Ms. Monroe closed her mouth as she sat up. "Latin it is," she said as she made a final note. "That seems to be it. I'll turn this in and have your schedule ready at the beginning of the year. Any more questions?"
"Nope."
"Okay," Ms. Monroe hummed as she placed Beck's form on a stack with the others. "I hope to see you again in a couple of days."
"You too, Ms. Monroe."
