Chapter 27

Ava POV

I felt something soft and warm peppering the mark around my neck and I couldn't help but moan softly. Mating under the full moon allowed for the marks of Nicholas and Taylor to fade away and allowed for one another to rightfully mark under the full Moon, something the Moon Goddess predicted for I expected.

I heard a soft chuckle behind me and I knew it was Derek.

"I know you're up,"He said as he began rubbing my arm. I kept my eyes closed and pretended to sleep but truthfully I was wide awake.

"Ava I can hear your thoughts, I know you're not sleeping," He chuckled.

Damn it, I wasn't used to this mate connection.

I heard that.

I groaned as I buried my face into the pillow.

" I don't want to get up. The others will lecture me about what happened last night," I groaned.

I remembered why they were holding me back last night, but I didn't have the urge to kill Derek so maybe the Moon Goddess was wrong.

"What happened last night was natural and you shouldn't be ashamed of it," He tried to reassure me.

After a few moments of silence I felt him remove the covers from my naked body and slap my ass as hard as he could.

"Time to get up!" He said, with a chipper attitude.

I immediately shot up and glared at him but what I saw scared me.

I should have known the Moon Goddess makes no mistake.

Derek was glowing, not in a healthy natural way but his skin was glowing bright red as voices began to chant things in my head as I continued to stare at him.

He's mortal

Kill him

Sacrifice his mortal life

He will be reborn

Be together forever

Kill him

My thoughts were not my own as I looked at him and before I could feel myself slip, I closed my eyes and laid back down.

"Ava what's wrong, that face you gave me was a look of fear," I heard Derek's worried tone.

I shook my head as I kept my eyes closed.

I felt him grab my face as he pulled me up.

"Look at me please and tell me you are okay," He pleaded.

My eyes shot wide open and all I could see was Derek glowing before me. I felt a silver dagger appear into my hand with command as the voices in my head continued to grow louder and louder as my eyes grew darker. It was as if I no longer had any control over my body as I slashed at Derek's face but he quickly moved out of the way.

What are you doing, what's wrong?" He asked as he moved away from me.

"We have to be together forever," I said in a monotonous voice as I lunged at him.

"Fuck I didn't think it would happen so quick! Ava I have to appoint a new Alpha of my pack before I allow you to kill me, the moment isn't right," He shouted.

My bow and arrow appeared in my hand and I quickly fired.

The arrow lightly grazed his skin and caused him to hiss in pain.

I ran up to him and pinned him against the wall but Derek was a fighter and he knew how to get out of situations like this. He forcefully kicked me in the stomach sending me flying into the opposite wall.

The door flew open revealing Ariel, Taylor, Zachary and Nicholas. Derek growled angrily at Zachary and Nicholas as if signaling for them to leave.

I took this as a chance and lunged at Derek in full speed but he grabbed me and threw me straight into the wall.

"Ava you have you stop!" He yelled at me.

"What the hell is going on?!" Ariel asked.

"She's trying to kill me!" Derek growled.

'Well then get out!" Ariel yelled as she rolled her eyes.

Derek quickly dashed out of the door and immediately felt myself calming down but at the same time I was missing his presence.

"Alright Ava come on and put some clothes on, you're naked and fighting Derek so it's a weird view. Not that I'm complaining or anything," Ariel chuckled.

I quickly rushed on my clothes and looked over to see Ariel gawking at me with such an amused expression.

"You know you have a great body, just the whole package," She winked.

I rolled my eyes as I headed down the stairs to discuss finding Liam.

'Ava I want to see you again'

Derek I miss your touch

'And I miss yours, please come to me'

I whimpered at Derek pleading in my mind. I walked down the stairs until I was in the living area where I noticed Zachary and Nicholas staring at Derek with concern. He was looking out of the window at who knows what but I knew what exactly he was thinking about.

He was thinking about me and thinking about death, wondering what's going to happen after he truly allows for me to take his life.

"Ava come here," I heard his husky tone.

I quickly closed my eyes and slowly began walking forward but not careful enough. I trip over something and as I quickly braced myself for impact but instead of falling on the cold hard ground I fell into warm hard hands.

I felt the sudden urge to open my eyes and caress his face but I kept my eyes shut.

"I wish I could see your beautiful brown eyes," He whispered into my ear and pulled me into a tight embrace.

I shivered at his breath and nearly opened my eyes.

"Derek you can't say things like that. I want to see your face so bad but I can't risk it, I need to remain focused," I said sadly.

"When this is all over, you're mine and no one else's," He whispered.

Crazy how much of a sensitive little shit I've become for this man in just a few weeks.

Derek chuckled.

"How do you think I feel? I never imagined I'd be so infatuated with someone in a matter of weeks,"

I made the wrong mistake by opening my eyes. For a second I forgot our differences and the circumstances we were currently in and most of all I forgot that he couldn't be fully mine until I officially took care of Liam.

I opened my eyes and noticed Derek looking at me with shock as my eyes grew darker.

Kill him.

He will finally be yours.

My celestial sword appeared in my hand and simultaneously there was a scream as I was jerked backwards, away from Derek.

I looked back and noticed Ariel holding me back with vines sprouting from the walls and I looked over at my target and noticed he was being held back by Zachary.

"Let her go!" Derek roared.

"I'm saving your life dumbass, just think!" Ariel yelled.

I tried to reach back and cut away the vines but she restricted my hands.

"Ava don't do this, you don't need a distraction while trying to find Liam!" Zachary shouted as he struggled.

Eva burst through the door with a broken wing and he looked at all of us.

"What the hell is going on?!" She shouted.

"She tried to kill him!" Ariel shouted.
