Byakuya was silently reading his book in the library. His first day at Hope's Peak Academy had been lacking, though the library was adequate. He had thought that a school as prestigious as Hope's Peak would've made his life less boring, but the heir had been proven wrong.
The lessons were easy and the people were boring. It was honestly a crime that Byakuya was put on the same level as these idiots. Only a few were even worthy of breathing the same air at him.
And these were supposed to be Ultimates. It was quite a sad world he was living in.
Which was exactly why he was in the library- to avoid all of those idiots. He doubted some of them even knew what a library was, let alone stepped into one. So, he was save from them in the library. And it was quiet too, something Byakuya quite liked.
Well, it was quiet. He suddenly heard the sound of heels clacking against the floor and the library doors were pushed open.
Standing on the other side with a big grin was no other than the Ultimate Fashionista, Junko Enoshima. At first glance, she would be seen as a typical dumb blonde. But Byakuya knew the truth. He knew she was something much more.
With her heels continuing to click against the floor, she walked towards him. And sat down in the chair opposite of him.
He knew where this was leading to. A conversation. He had no idea why though. And Junko wasn't the type of person to do something without a reason, Byakuya knew that for sure.
"Oh, hello, Byakuya!" She said with that big grin that was hiding so much.
He set down his book and raised an eyebrow, "What is it?" He asked, his voice cold.
"I got a little... proposition for you," She began, the smile on her face slowly turning into a smirk. "You are very interesting... You are different from the others."
Byakuya just hummed, "Well, of course. But why does that matter to you?" He asked, a hint of impatience slipping into his voice.
If she had something to say, she should just say it. He didn't like waiting- it was boring.
"I think it would very useful if the two of us began a partnership," The blonde explained, lazily twirling a piece of her hair around her finger.
Hm. That was quite the offer. But that didn't mean that Byakuya was just going to accept it.
He needed more information first.
He once again raised an eyebrow, "And why is that, Junko? And what would this 'partnership' entail exactly?" He asked, letting some curiosity slip into his voice. He wanted to let Junko know he was interested, even if he wouldn't outright say it.
"It's very simple. I've seen you, observed you. And I've come to a conclusion..." Junko said, her smirk growing as she suddenly stood up. "You're like me. You find this world easy."
"That's quite the accusation. You must be quite certain of it since you're dropping that act of yours," Byakuya stated with a slight hum. He couldn't deny that this was very interesting.
The things Junko was saying... intrigued him. He already had a feeling that they were alike, and now it seemed like she thought that too. He decided not to say that- as of now, Junko wasn't his friend.
"I'm sure of it. And I know you think that too. We're anomalies here. We're smarter than anybody else. But we're bored too," Junko explained, a certain madness appearing in her eyes. No- it wasn't madness.
It was despair.
Junko continued to talk. "But I know a way to cure that boredom. I have something that I know you will find interesting."
That was quite the promise to make. But Byakuya couldn't help but be interested by it. Something about Junko made him compelled to listen. She was interesting in the way nobody else was.
"And what may that be?" Byakuya asked, pushing up his glasses. By his tone, it was clear he was interested, but he didn't care enough to hide it. If Junko knew she had him curious, she might speed up and actually tell him what it is.
"Murder." Junko said simply. "It's such a beautiful thing. Seeing it is the only thing that makes me feel alive. I'm sure you can recognise that," She continued, glancing at the book Byakuya was reading. It was a murder mystery.
Byakuya gave a slight nod, "That is... correct. Murder does intrigue me. But what does that have to do with you?" He questioned, shooting Junko a slight glare in the hopes that she would just tell him.
Junko giggled at the glare, "Well, my dear friend. I can give you that murder, that thrill," She said as she reached out to tilt his chin up. "Wouldn't it be amazing to watch our classmates as they murder each other?"
Byakuya couldn't deny the fact that what she said did sound interesting. Very interesting even.
Watching his idiotic classmates get rid of each other, huh?
That truly sounded interesting. So much so that Byakuya didn't try to remove her hand from his chin- he knew what she was trying to do. She wanted to make sure he knew that she was in control. And Byakuya would let her be. Normally, he was the leader, but for once he was okay with just sitting back and watching.
"It would be," The heir agreed, a smirk forming on his face. "What exactly do you have planned then?"
"That's where you come in. I have a few ideas, but I'm sure a mind like yours could help me come up with something great."
Oh. He had a good idea. A real good idea even. After all, everything was much more interesting when it was a game. And this time it would be a game of life and death. With only one winner.
As a Togami, it was only natural he would use a bit of their tradition. And like last time, he would win.
This partnership might be a very good idea indeed...
