It took Byakuya all he had to not smile at the sight in front of him. It truly was just a beautiful thing to see someone laying dead at his feet. Even if he wasn't the one that had killed Kiyotaka, he still felt a thrill. And soon enough, he would even feel a bigger one when he caught the murderer.
Byakuya really couldn't wait. Unfortunately, he was the only one who thought that. Next to him, Chihiro shrieked and stepped back. Tears were already forming in his eyes and it looked like he was ready to pass out.
Sakura had a shocked expression on her face. While she wasn't as expressive as Chihiro, Byakuya knew she was feeling the same emotion. And that emotion was despair. Byakuya could only think about how happy Junko was right now. Most likely very happy, especially with what was coming.
But suddenly- though Byakuya already knew it would happen- the monitor turned on in the room. "A body has been discovered! Go to the gym now for some extra info! Attendance mandatory!" The bear said with a grin before the screen turned off.
Byakuya turned to the two people who were in the room with him. He faked a frown onto his face. "Let's go. I doubt Monokuma will be happy if we waited," He lied, knowing full well that he wanted to go. This was something he had been waiting for. Nothing would change that now.
"O-okay..." Chihiro said between hiccups, nodding slightly. He was still crying.
"You're right," Sakura said, nodding as well. From the sounds of it, she was taking deep breaths to keep herself under control.
But after she had said that, they started to walk. It wasn't a long walk by any means, so they reached the gym quite quickly. However, they didn't enter it immediately because in front of them were some other people, most likely discussing what had happened. Though, they probably didn't fully know.
As soon as he saw them approach, Makoto turned to them. "Ah, good timing... D-do you guys know what that announcement was for?" He asked. And it seemed like that simple question was enough to send Chihiro over the edge once again. He began to cry again, and quite heavily too.
Byakuya put a hand on his shoulder as if he wanted to comfort him- which he obviously didn't- and looked at Makoto. "We do. Kiyotaka has unfortunately been found... dead," He said, hiding his true emotions. Pretending to be sad while actually being ecstatic wasn't exactly easy. Though obviously Byakuya could manage.
"W-what?" Sayaka asked, her eyes wide as she stood next to Makoto. "N-no! This can't be! He can't be dead yet! No! Not now! Not before-" She cut herself off with some hiccups.
Her reaction was... unexpected. As far as Byakuya was aware, she and Kiyotaka weren't close. Maybe there was something more to her words- that wouldn't surprise Byakuya. Despite how kind Sayaka was, Byakuya knew that the girl had a darker side. Nothing like, say, Junko's. Sayaka was genuinely kind.
But that didn't mean she had something else to her. Byakuya would keep an eye on her for now. She could be quite interesting.
"Sayaka!" Makoto almost screamed as he turned to said girl. "A-are you okay? I'm sure t-this is all a misunderstanding... Taka c-can't be dead, right? Right...?"
Ah. The despair on his face was wonderful. It seemed like Makoto was one step away from having a mental breakdown- how pathetic. He was sure Junko was happy though. She had some personal hatred for the boy. Out of her classmates, he probably was the only one Junko actually disliked.
He was way too hopeful for her tastes- Byakuya had often heard her call that disgusting. It was quite different from how she usually acted, though Byakuya didn't mind. If anything, he liked her better like that.
