For who knows how long...nobody said a word. The fact that Kiyotaka and Mukuro were dead was a huge shock to almost everybody, of course. But there was more to it than that. It was also the idea that one of them had actually murdered someone...and that if they didn't find out who it was, they would all die here.
Byakuya knew that the others were thinking about that, and that they were just full of despair from it. The fragile happiness they had tried to form was gone. Not only had they seen Kiyotaka's dead body, but Mukuro was murdered right in front of them.
They had found themselves in a situation where they couldn't help but look at each other with open suspicion. It was the worst situation imaginable. And yet, even in such a perversely terrible situation... she didn't show the slightest hint that it had gotten to her. That girl was as stoic as always, which annoyed Byakuya to no end.
"Now's no time to wallow in your depression. The worst thing we can do right now is lose all faith in each other. That would lead to the same disastrous result as having total faith in everyone else," She said, her arms crossed. But other than that, there was no emotion present on her face.
"Huh?" Leon asked with a confused expression.
"Cooperation is absolutely key at this point. Who you decide to trust or not trust is, of course, up to you," She responded, her face still annoyingly blank. This time there wasn't even anything like a frown present on her face.
Celeste nodded, "Continuing to think about and talk about the deceased certainly isn't going to help anything."
"S-Saying stuff like that is just-!" Aoi stuttered with a slightly angry look on her face. However, before she could finish her sentence, she was cut off.
"How many times have I told you? Anyone who can't adapt...will die. Death is the only thing awaiting those who are unable or unwilling to adapt," Celeste chastised as a smile appeared on her face. "If that happens, you only have yourself to blame."
"What an awful thing to say! Especially after what's happened!" The girl responded, her voice just as angry as before.
Kyoko turned to look at her. "Right now, exposing the killer is the most important thing. Because if we don't, we're all going to die here," She said, still without any emotion.
Byakuya nodded at her words. He didn't want to, but he still had an act to keep up. And that meant he had to agree with her right now, no matter how annoying she was. It was simply what he needed to do to keep his act up. He was their sole leader now after all.
"She's right. We need to begin our search right away," He said, his voice filled with determination and in such a tone that only a fool would argue with him.
Sakura nodded, "Either way, we can't run away from the situation, so we have no choice but to move forward," She said, a slightly grim edge to her voice that was just wonderful. It meant she was at least feeling some despair.
"We just hafta do it, I guess. What other choice do we have?" Aoi mumbled, the anger slowly leaving her voice. How disappointing, it was at least slightly entertaining hearing her anger. He always loved a good argument.
"No way in hell am I letting someone kill me...! Alright, dammit! Let's do this!" Leon said, his voice more determined than Byakuya had ever heard.
Kyoko hummed, "Before we start searching for Kiyotaka's killer, we need to decide what to do about securing the crime scene."
Ah. Of course she would already be thinking about that. How smart of her.
"What do you mean...?" Sayaka asked, tilting her head. Her brows were furrowed in confusion as she tried to understand what Kyoko had said. At first glance, it would have seemed like she had calmed down.
