{{{Cinders POV}}}

I start walking home, checking to make sure I still had some food in my pockets for my mom from the school lunch. Thankfully, it's still there. My mom loved when I brought home food yesterday.

My newest friends, Luta and Sue are super nice.. But I don't think they will last. None of my friends ever have. Once they figure how poor I really am, they will probably just run, just like the others. I sigh. My mom has always been the one that's always there for me..

I finally make it to my smelly apartment building, and I jog to where mine is.

"Mom!!!" I call out, "I'm home!" I finish and sit on the couch for a few seconds, then get up again going to her room.. That's weird.. I can't find her anywhere. "Mom?!?!" I call out again, more frantically. She's almost always home. She wouldn't have anywhere else to go.. Unless..

Unless my father came back.

No. Please no.

"Mom!!!!" I say again, looking in her room, and mine. Still, she's no where to be found. I breath harder, shaking. I try to calm down again, but I can't. I know what I'm having, my mom told me what they were before. Panic Attacks.

I freak out even more I hate these. I start to feel like I'm being crushed, hyperventalating... But I feel like I can't breathe... I try to scream out but I can't make a sound. I fall onto the floor, and curl into a ball. I can remember my mom telling me how to deal with these.

"Find a happy place in your head, try to even out your breathing." She would say holding my hand for comfort. But she was gone now, and I didn't know what I could do. Tears ran down my face, and I shook harder. It felt like I was underwater, unable to breath, but still gasping for air.

I heard someone open the door, but I didn't look to see who it was. He came over to me, and was saying something that sounded far away.. He put his hands on my shoulders, steadying me.. But I couldn't.. Where was my mom? I needed her.. I needed her..

I felt more tears running down my face. And I opened my eyes. I don't know how long I had been since I had the attack, but it was over now. Hallelujah. I felt someone put there hands on me, and I nearly jumped two feet.

I turned my head, and sighed it was just my downstairs neighbor. He looked at me worriedly, then spoke.

"You had a panic attack." He tells me.

" I know."

"Well, what happened?"

"My mom is gone. She never is gone. Didn't even leave a note." I start to feel like I was gonna cry again, but I didn't.

"I saw her go with a tall, dark haired guy. He looked richer than you guys... No offense."

I shivered. I knew who it was now that took her from me.

My father.

I stood up with the help from my neighbor.

"What's your name?" I ask him.

"Renzo." He says, shaking my hand. He scratches his black messy hair saying " I heard when you fell on the floor from downstairs, and I thought one of you was.. I don't know, dead or something, so I came to check and saw you having an attack. My sister gets them so I knew how to help you." He tells me.

I nod. " Well I'm Cinder, and it's nice to meet you, Renzo." I say shaking his hand. " And thank you, for helping me." I say, a little quieter.

He nods like he understands.

"I'm sorry, but I have to be somewhere. And to thank you for helping me, do you wanna come with me? I'm going to a friends house, but it would be nice to have someone there that I actually have known for more than two days." I tell him. His face brights right up.

"I would love to go! It's not like I exactly have friends myself. You are in high school right? I'm in 11th grade."

"10th grade actually. I'm 16." I say.

"Ok, let's go. Just follow me." I tell Renzo.

I get up, and we leave, walking to Luta's house.
