They took my home, my freedom,
My will to live,
And yet I live on.
They took my people, myFriends, my family,
And yet I live on.I will never forget what they did to me;
Gassed me,
Starved me,
Sent me to death and work camps.
Never again, others say,
Never again. But what about when others do the same?
Will the same people who say:
Never again
Stand up for what is right?
Or will they stand by and watch,
Content to let lesser nations commit war crimes? The same song a sparrow sings is not the same as a crow.
But they are both birds,
And should be treated as such.Even as the rooster cries in the dawn,
No one will remember who exactly were prosecuted.
Homosexuals,
Jews,
Communists,
Civilians who stood up for what was right,
And even people of the church!Everybody says,
"Never again!"
But no one listens to
The poor crows and ravens,
Who want to sing yet can't,
As they have been given different voices. They took my home, my freedom,
My will to live,
And yet I live on.
They took my people, my
Friends, my family,
And yet I live on.
