Sokka approached us, "Look, we escaped from the Dai Li. We got Appa back. I'm telling you, we should go to the Earth King now and tell him our plan. We're on a roll." I would just storm the palace if I had to; I was so sick of following the Dai Li's rules.

"One good hour after weeks of trouble isn't much of a roll," Katara commented.

"Let's build on it then. If we want to invade on the eclipse, we need the Earth King's support," I suggested.

"What makes you think we'll get it? I don't know if you've noticed, but things don't usually go that smoothly for our little gang," Toph commented pointedly.

"I've got a good feeling about this. This time will be different," Sokka replied, and I nodded.

"Long Feng is in control of the city. His conspiracy with the Dai Li is too powerful. I think we should just keep flying and leave this horrible place behind us," Katara got on better with Toph's opinion.

"I'm with Sweetness. I've seen enough of Ba Sing Se. And I can't even see!" Toph exclaimed, throwing her arms up.

"We need the Earth Kingdom's support," I said.

"Laina's right, and now that we have Appa back, there's nothing stopping us from telling the Earth King the truth about the conspiracy and the War," Aang added.

"See?" Sokka brought Aang and I into a side-hug, "Aang and Laina are with me. The Earth King is the whole reason we came here in the first place. We have to try."

Katara thought on it for a moment, "Well, I guess if the Earth King knew the truth, things could change."

"That's the spirit!" I exclaimed.

"Did the Dai Li brainwash you too, Laina? Stop being so chipper," Toph remarked.

"Oh, forgive me if I ever try to adopt a positive persona," I snapped back.

"That's more like it," Toph smiled.

A shadowy, impending clump of figures approached my peripheral from my right, and I turned my head to see a cluster of Dai Li ships on one side of the lake. "The Dai Li are looking for us," I pointed to the green sailboats.

Katara determinedly lifted her chin, "Then let's fly."

I gripped onto Appa, somehow having lost my flying legs in the months he was gone. We had no saddle; I had never been forced to ride bareback, and I was almost hating it as much as Toph was. We encroached on the palace, its blocky and geometric design laden with concrete courtyards and uniform treelines acting as a regal foil to our humble no-saddle transportation.

"This is terrifying!" I cried out.

Toph shared my same look of fear, "We need a new saddle ASAP!"

"The Earth King's chamber is probably in the middle of the palace," Sokka pointed towards a large green roof, centre to any connecting pathways or halls out of the palace.
