Vincent was a bad lightweight when it came to drinking. Obviously as he already had two beers and it was starting to affect him badly. He was already slurring his words and acting more happy. Vincent was smiling and laughing a lot more than he ever would.
Rody liked seeing Vincent like this, even though it took Vincent being drunk to see it. He had a soft smile and furrowed eyebrows as he watched Vincent's face, looking at him with adoration in his eyes. "Vincent, why don't you smile more?" He decided to ask.
Vincent paused at that question, parting his lips as he thought of an answer. A truthful answer, "Well no one really takes someone always happy and smiling as serious as someone that isn't happy and smiling all the time... I guess it's more of an act so people will take me seriously and know I mean business." Vincent shrugged then leaned back on the brand new couch he bought Rody.
Rody stared at Vincent as Vincent explained, his lips forming a line. "Oh." Rody said after Vincent finished talking. He furrowed his eyebrows further. "I guess that makes sense..." Rody muttered, unsure what to think about that. I mean, Vincent wasn't wrong but wasn't right either. It was a confusing matter. "Well, I enjoy your smile."
Vincent looked away from Rody as Rody said that it made sense, Vincent wasn't even sure if that thought process was okay but it's what he believes. He looked back at Rody when Rody said he liked Vincent's smile. "Really?" His eyebrows raised and he looked a bit shocked. No one has ever complimented him like that before. Sure, he's gotten compliments but none were really about small stuff like his smile.
Rody nodded. "Really." He chuckled softly. He smiled again, leaning back on the couch. He was sat next to Vincent but had some space between them two.
Vincent crossed his legs then looked down at the floor, feeling a bit embarrassed after that compliment. He definitely wasn't used to those compliments but especially not from men or even men he knew. He cleared his throat as he turned his head to the window behind them. "It's a nice night." He muttered.
Rody watched as Vincent acted embarrassed and now nervous, something he's not used to seeing from Vincent but it was a nice change from Vincent's cold and tough persona. He looked outside when Vincent pointed out how nice it was. Lots of stars were out and it was a nice black yet still light from the moon. "Yeah..." He couldn't help but look back at Vincent as Vincent stared outside. He felt some sort of feeling in his stomach, like he was nervous yet he didn't actually feel nervous.
Vincent stared out there for a moment before he could tell Rody was staring at him, looking back at Rody. He smiled nervously. Now he, definitely, was nervous. He didn't know how to react to this situation. He's been in situations like this before but it was usually him with girls (Despite being gay, being gay was frowned upon in the 1960s). So he wasn't used to the Situation being flipped or even with a guy nonetheless.
They stared in each other's eyes for a moment, staying quiet. It may have been awkward to most people but, to Rody, it felt nice and comfortable. Vincent felt even more nervous but it also felt nice to him. This moment didn't seem platonic at all which is what made Rody start to be nervous. After another moment passed, Vincent leaned in. Taking the move. His lips pressed against Rody's and, this time, Rody didn't pull back.
Rody's eyebrows raised and his eyes widened a bit but after a second of Vincents lips still on his, he relaxed a bit. He put the beer down on the coffee table in front of them then moved that now free hand to Vincents cheek. He closed his eyes as he saw Vincent had his eyes closed already.
Vincent leaned further in and took advantage of this moment, putting a hand on Rody's leg furthest from him. Being on alcohol always made him more happy and confident, impulsive sometimes as well. Like this was an impulse decision, kissing Rody out of no where.
It took Rody a moment for his mind to finally wrap around what was happening. He pulled back, not abruptly. He slowly pulled back as he opened his eyes. He felt like he was about to panic but he kept himself calm for the most part. His heart was beating fast and his breath became quicker. He saw Vincent looked confused as Rody pulled back, Vincent opening his eyes.
"Sorry-" Rody pulled his hand away and furrowed his eyebrows, his face bright red. What was wrong with me? I'm not gay. Being gay is... is gross. Well, Rody truly didn't think that but society pushed those thoughts so that's what Rody thought he had to believe. He stood up from the couch and put the back of his hand over his mouth. He turned his head away from Vincent. "I'll call you a taxi." Rody muttered.
Vincent felt nervous again as Rody pulled back and apologized, furrowing his eyebrows. Did I mess up? Oh god, please tell me I didn't. He thought. He watched Rody stand up and turn his head away with a hand over his mouth. Did he hate it that much? Did I mess up our friendship this way...? Vincent felt anxious and scared now about how Rody was reacting. I should have known he wasn't gay- I just messed everything up by that, didn't I? His eyebrows raised when Rody he'll get him a taxi. He's kicking me out- Damnit Vincent! He felt a bit angry now. Not at Rody but at himself. Vincent stood up. "Okay..." He whispered.
