John opened the diner as he usually did. He started a pot of coffee, ran any leftover dishes through the dishwasher, and turned on all the machines that had been turned off for the night.

John Dory sang quietly to music playing from his phone as he took the chairs off the tables. He only looked up when he heard the front door open, he had to be sure that he hadn't forgotten to relock it. It happened sometimes.

It was just Clay, giving him a tired wave before catching the office keys and topping off his cup of coffee as he walked back to the office to get their register drawers out of the safe.

After getting their registers sorted, Clay started working on getting the kitchen set up for the shift. He diced garnishes and filled seasonings that needed filled. Normally Bruce was here before Clay and already had that stuff set up by the time that Clay got there.

It was a comfortable silence that was filled with music from each of the brothers' phones as they continued setting things up. Floyd rushed in, thinking he was running late, so much so that he ran into the door.

John covered his mouth as he walked over and opened the door for Floyd, who was laying on the ground.

"You okay, Flo?" JD asked, helping his little brother up.

"My alarm didn't go off because my phone died. I didn't know what time it was so I was rushing because I thought I was late. And I forgot it's a pull door." Floyd said sadly as he took John Dory's hand, standing up and brushing himself off.

"Well, you're not late. But are you okay?" John asked, picking up Floyd's bag off the ground.

"Yeah, nothing seems to be broken, maybe just bruised." Floyd grumbled, dusting off his butt before taking his bag. He walked into the diner and made himself a cup of tea (I know I said coffee in the last fic but don't worry about it), not having a chance to make one before he left his place. Floyd peeked into the kitchen, seeing only Clay.

Soon enough, Branch arrived at the diner as well. It was unusual for Bruce to be the last one to show up but there were times he also ran late. But as it got closer to opening, they started to get worried.

Branch flicked on the opening sign as John Dory opened the door for customers, their morning regulars coming in for their usual breakfasts and coffee. As they hit the one hour mark of being opening, John caved. He decided to call Bruce, it wasn't like him to not call if he couldn't show up for some reason or to be this late.

JD paced in the office as the phone rang a couple of times before Bruce picked up.

" 'Ello?" Bruce answered, his voice sounding slightly congested.

"...Hey Brucie. I was just calling to make sure you were okay because you didn't show up or call or anything. You good dude?" JD asked.

"Oh shit, sorry. I wasn't feeling too great last nigh' so when I got home I downed a bunch of Nyquil, hoping it'd make me feel better by morning and I must of overslept. I'll be there in a few." Bruce answered, scrambling could be heard on the other side of the phone.

"Hey dude, if you're still not feeling good, stay home. I was just worried about you Bruce. Take care of yourself, don't worry about it." John Dory said, hearing Bruce breath a sigh of relief on the other side of the phone.

"Thanks Johnny, sorry I didn't call. I owe you one." Bruce said, it sounded like he was laying back down.

"Don't worry about it Brucie. Let me know if you need anything bro and feel better. Bye." John said, smiling softly.
