It had been a year since the trolls had shown the Bergens true happiness. John Dory and Branch had spent that time getting reacquainted.

Branch showed John all the skills he had learned and taught himself and JD showed Branch some skills he had perfected over the years.

Pop Village was thriving, Poppy enjoying her new position as queen and Branch being there to help her so much as he could.

Most days started off with a song, Poppy and the rest of the gang getting together to perform.

This morning was no exception as John Dory chuckled, listening to Branch sing about how there was a special girl in his life now and he knew exactly who that was.

JD finished packing his bag, leaving a note for his brother telling him that he was going on that trip they talked about.

John had told Branch now that he was free of the castle and they didn't have to worry about Bergens, he wanted to go exploring. He wanted to travel and see all the things the world had to offer, and hike the Neverglade trail like he said he would.

Branch was hesitant but agreed, knowing his brother had spent so much of his life locked away that he just wanted to be free.

John Dory swore that he would come back, and if he didn't that meant he was either dead or kidnapped.

John didn't plan on going too far, just exploring the wood on his own and being in nature.

JD began his hike, the sounds of Pop Village fading in the distance.

John Dory had missed nature so much, he was always the one who wanted to be outside no matter what. He was the kid who played in the rain, rolled in the grass, climbed trees and just sat in the sun.

Sure trolls naturally lived outside but there was something about being away from civilization that excited JD.

As he walked, John took note of all the creatures he saw. There was all kinds of critters that roamed the forest.

As it got dark, John Dory heard a howl in pain. JD followed the sound and found an armadillo caught in a trap.

The armadillo looked like she had been being used in a demolition derby, she was beat up and covered in clunky armor.

The armadillo growled at John Dory, snapping at him a little before howling in pain.

"Hey, hey. It's ok. I wanna help. Will you let me help you?" John asked, holding his hands up to show he meant no harm.

She growled in a low tone but made no motion to stop John as he stepped closer.

JD stepped closer, slowly opening up the trap, watching the armadillo to make sure she wasn't going to suddenly bite him.

She let him pull her leg free, trying to immediately run away just to fall because of her injury.

"That's a nasty gash. I can help if you let me." John said softly, gently petting the armadillo.

She made a noise of begrudgement as she flopped down on the ground.

"Atta girl. Now this is going to sting but trust me it helps. I'm sorry in advance." JD said as he poured some rubbing alcohol on a cloth to clean the wound.

The armadillo growled at John Dory but didn't pull away.

As John wrapped her leg, he noticed that the armor she wore was rubbing her raw.

"Looks like this armor is hurting you. Do you want me to help you get it off? Don't know why anyone would put armor on an animal that has natural armor." JD said softly.
