The October winds had begun to pick up and the nights were getting darker as the clouds obscured the moon at night. Yoongi thought he'd be happy never to see it again, but walking into work through blurry light made him feel even worse.

Maybe he missed the pretty moon after all.

He sighed as he clocked in and relieved the girl at the counter for the night. She smiled politely at him and rushed out, leaving him with an empty shop and shitty music coming in through the speakers. He was about to connect his phone to the Bluetooth when the bell rang and he turned around to find the same men from the other night entering the store. He half expected them to jump him for whatever money was in the till but instead, they bought a bunch of beer and smiled at him, teeth bared and gleaming under the flourescents.

"Found your daddy yet kid?" one finally asked as Yoongi took his money, trying not to let them see the way his hands trembled.

Yoongi shook his head and the men pouted mockingly. "Better hurry before your pretty little soulmate suddenly can't play ball, or do his little twirls at that dance studio."

Yoongi's heart stopped. Fully stopped beating for a second when he heard those words.

"Where was it again Yeonsu? It's the one near the school right?" The man holding the beer gave a wheezy chuckle and Yoongi swallowed down the bile rising up his throat.

"Please," he begged. "Please give me more time. I have no idea where my father is. I've looked everywhere for your money. I just need a few more weeks to save up."

He'd truly looked and looked, turning the house inside out despite his step-mother's protests. He'd even begged her to give him the money but she had no idea where it could be. His father hadn't been home in weeks and Yoongi half expected his body to wash ashore anytime soon.

"I don't think your little gig here will ever be enough to pay back what your dad owes us, kid." There was almost a look of regret in those black eyes, but it was gone so quick, Yoongi figured he had just imagined it—or hoped for it. But these men were beyond pity.

"Tell you what. I'll give you three more weeks. If by the end of those three weeks, you don't have the money, you and little Jimin—"

Yoongi gasped.

"—well, let's just say it won't really be a problem anymore."

His cronies laughed as they left the shop but the man stayed behind. Yoongi was sure he was going to pull the blade on him again and he braced himself. Instead, he just drew close and spoke through bitter scented breaths. "Jimin's a good kid, little Min. You're lucky to have a soulmate like him."

"He isn't my soulmate," Yoongi said through gritted teeth.

"Hmm. You can't fool me. I've seen those marks. I've seen you two together. The way his eyes turn all crinkly and soft when he sees you... when you're not looking."

Yoongi should have known they'd be followed. He wanted to scream at the man to leave him alone. Wanted to take the money from the till and throw it at him so he would just leave them alone, but then he might end up in jail if the owners of the shop found out.

"I had a soulmate once," the man continued, unaware of the screaming in Yoongi's mind. "She died. Let me tell you little Min. You see me here, standing, breathing—but that night as her blood drenched my skin, my clothes, that night I died too."

Yoongi dared not breathe.

"That night, I killed us both. Don't do what I did. Don't put a bullet in Jimin's head like I had to." He gave Yoongi a sickly sweet smile and left the shop without a glance back never seeing the tears running down Yoongi's face.
