Jimin felt like spilled water, spreading over the surface of a table, inching its way closer and closer to the edge, threatening to fall apart in drips and splatters on the floor below.

He'd seen Yoongi.

Yoongi was here. In Busan.

How the hell did he get here? Did he know Jimin was here? Had he been avoiding him?

While all these questions tangled themselves in knots in his head, Jimin rushed home. He didn't even say hello to his roommate when he launched himself into the apartment.

"He's here!" he said nearly breathless.

Hobi, who had been cooking dinner, frowned. "What?"

"Yoongi! He's here. And you didn't tell me!" He hadn't meant to sound accusatory but Hobi had been Yoongi's closest friend and now he was Jimin's and he knew everything that had happened between them and he didn't tell him .

Hobi was quick to drop the chopsticks he was using to stir whatever is in the pot and came over to where Jimin was visibly falling apart. "I didn't know, Minie I swear." He grabbed his arms and held fast as Jimin fought to take a proper breath.

"Where did you see him? What happened?"

Jimin did his best to explain how he'd seen Yoongi, so changed, at the library. Hobi was quiet throughout, just listening until Jimin was done.

"I swear, I haven't spoken to him in two years," Hobi said softly, wiping at Jimin's tears with his shirtsleeve. "I would've told you."

Jimin knew Hobi to always be honest. He believed him but that only made things worse. How could Yoongi not have told his best friend that he was out? Why not confide in him?

"I'm sorry you found out this way," Jimin sobbed guiltily as his friend held him tightly.

"It's okay. Yoongi was always like that. He hates being an inconvenience." Hobi frowned and after a minute said, "I just can't wrap my head around him being here though. What's in Busan for him?"

Jimin had wondered about that too. Wondered why of all places he'd ended up here in Busan, where Jimin was from. He didn't dare think that he'd been looking for him. That thought was too far into delusion. It was something the Jimin of two years ago would think, but the Jimin of today had changed. He didn't have lofty daydreams about impossible things. He was driven and focused only on his goals and right now, despite his little breakdown, he was determined to not let this get to him. If Yoongi was here in Busan, it was because of his own reasons and Jimin would leave it at that. He wasn't going to look for him. He wasn't going to question him and demand answers as to why he ignored him for two years. If Yoongi wanted to keep Jimin out of his life, Jimin would give him that.

He meant nothing to Jimin anymore.

He was just a distant daydream that faded long ago, and Jimin was determined to live in the present. To not let himself run over the edge of the precipice.

Unfortunately for him, the present seemed determined to throw them into each other's orbits now that their paths had crossed and every time, panic stuck its hand down Jimin's throat.

He started seeing Yoongi everywhere. In line at his favorite campus cafe, at the mess hall during lunch, even once in the men's restroom although Jimin had been quick to duck right out of there before Yoongi saw him. Each time, he was lucky that Yoongi never approached him. Their eyes met more than once, and more than once Jimin ran away, leaving behind paid-for coffee and half eaten lunches. At this point, he thought the universe or fate or whoever hated him so viscerally, was making a laughing stock out of him. He knew he looked like a coward. He knew that maybe to Yoongi, he looked kind of crazy rushing away whenever they found each other, but he didn't care anymore. It was easier to avoid Yoongi than to exist within a ten foot radius of him.
