Hyungsik's words exploded around Jimin like a live grenade bringing down his entire world.

His soulmark burned like a brand on his neck.

You know who it is don't you? You've always fucking known deep down.

It couldn't be could it? Jimin's heart had wished it to be true, once. He'd prayed for it, so long ago. That there would be relief from all this cursed love held within him like a punishment for sins he didn't know he'd committed.

Just don't come crawling back to me when Yoongi pushes you away for the hundredth time.

Yoongi.

Hyungsik had said Yoongi was his soulmate.

He needed to know. To be sure.

In a rush, he bolted from his room, ankle crying out in painful protest but he didn't care. He threw on a pair of shoes and ran out of his apartment. On instinct, he limped to the bus stop that would take him to the university. He let the feeling lead him through the maze of towering buildings until he stood right outside of the library where Yoongi worked. He was in there. He could feel it.

Yoongi was ducked behind a shelf in the back when he felt a presence behind him. He turned to see Jimin, face pale and wet.

"Jimin?" He asked in a low voice.

"Did you know?" Jimin asked and Yoongi's heart instantly sank.

"T-tell me hyung." He could barely form words around his sobbing and burning pain seared through Yoongi's soulmark. "Tell me it isn't true. Tell me you're not my soulmate. That you don't have the same mark as me."

Yoongi looked away, fighting the sting of tears in his eyes and failing.

"Tell me you didn't lie to me. Because if you did," Jimin sobbed, unable to finish.

His lovely face was a mask of pure hurt and betrayal and Yoongi couldn't stand to see him like that.

He was tired. He was tired of hiding and pretending. What was the point? Jimin deserved to know the truth he'd hidden from him. Even if it was just to know that they were an impossibility.

How he'd figured out that Yoongi had lied was besides the point. Now that he was here, Yoongi needed to explain.

"You have to understand Jimin–"

"Did you know?"

He was shaking. Yoongi could see his entire frame tremble with uncontained emotions.

"Did you know that you and I share a soulmark?"

"Yes," he said simply. No more lies.

"Since when?"

"High school."

Jimin gasped looking away finally. His tears fell in earnest and Yoongi couldn't help the rise in emotion in his chest, threatening to break loose.

"So you lied. When I asked you if you had a soulmate you looked me in the eye and lied to my face."

"I didn't lie, Jimin. I don't have a soulmate. I mean–"

"Then what am I?!" Jimin's voice was hoarse and his yell came out more like a whimper. "Why couldn't you lo–" His gasping sobs cut him off as he fought through his emotions to keep his composure.

"Jimin..." How did he explain to him that almost everything he'd thought about his mark had been wrong? Everything except the fact that Jimin had been cursed with two soulmates? How did he apologize for taking away his choice when he didn't even know he had one to begin with? He'd done everything he could to avoid him getting hurt and in the end that's all he ever did.
