Our kiss was cut short when Daryl heard a noise coming from one of the cell doors. He motioned for me to stay put before picking up his crossbow and slowly walked towards the door. He had his sight on the doorway ready to shoot whatever came through. A few men in prison jumpsuits shuffled through the doorway looking around at everyone, "That's far enough," Daryl warned them keeping his sight on the lead man's head.
"Today's your lucky day fellas. You've been pardoned by the state of Georgia. You are free to go," Daryl said not wanting them to stay around here any longer than they have been.
"What you got goin on in there?" The lead prisoner asked.
"Ain't none of your concern," Daryl said watching the prisoners carefully, waiting for one of them to make a move.
"Don't be telling me what's my concern," the prisoner said pulling a gun out of his pocket. Daryl instantly aimed his bow at the man's head, ready to kill.
"Chill, man. Dude's leg is messed up. Besides, we're free now! Why are we still in here?" one of the other prisoners pleaded with his friend. He must have seen Hershel when he was bit.
"Man's got a point," Daryl said staring at the main prisoner. The guy lowers his weapon, but Daryl keeps his bow on him.
"Group of civilians breaking into a prison you've got no business being in, got me thinking there ain't no place for us to go!"
"Why don't you go find out?" Daryl said in a low tone. These guys were really starting to piss him off.
Even though Daryl wanted me to stay behind while he checked out what was going on through the cell door, I had to follow along. I stayed around the corner from where Daryl had stopped and listened to the whole conversation. Sounded like some thugs that survived are wanting us to leave "their" prison.
"Hey, we ain't leaving!" the prisoner shouted raising his gun again to Daryl.
I pulled my AR from around my back and stepped out from around the corner, immediately aiming my gun at the leader of the prison group's head, right between the eyes, "You're not coming in here either," I shouted back at them. They all turned at me surprised to hear a woman's voice. The leader aimed his gun at me instead of Daryl, which made Daryl furious, and stepped forward wanting to put an arrow through the guy's head.
" What is this pretty little thing doing here aiming that rifle at me? Hey, this is my house, my rules, I go where I damn well please!" The man shouted taking a step closer to me.
"Back away from her!" Daryl growled at the man and took a few steps closer to him so that the prisoner would shift his attention to Daryl and not me. "Ohhh," the man smirked looking at Daryl and then back at me, " Is this your girl?" he asked pointing his gun at me while staring down Daryl. Daryl didn't say a word, he didn't want these prisoners to know anything about his people.
The prisoner looked me up and down and smirked, " She sure is a beauty. My name is Thomas. And your name is?" he said trying to charm me, but he failed miserably. I rolled my eyes at him and quickly aimed down next to his foot and shot at the floor, giving him a warning shot. All the prisoners jumped. I already had my sights back up at Thomas' head before he could aim his gun back at me.
"My name is none of your concern, why don't you do everyone a favor and leave," I commanded staring at Thomas who looked slightly scared, but also pissed off.
"I wouldn't mess with her man. She's a high-ranking Marine Corps Captain," Daryl said hoping that Thomas would surrender.
"I don't know, I like a little crazy. Maybe I do want to mess with her, " Thomas said licking his lips. Daryl was fuming now that someone would talk to his girl like that and aim a weapon at her.
