Daryl drove till we were practically on empty and still hadn't found any place to stay. We saw a sign for a funeral home and had no choice, but to check it out. As Daryl pulled into the driveway we slowly came to a stop. So we were completely out of gas. Great. We are screwed if we need to get out of here fast.

No walkers were around which was a little suspicious. We walked up to the front door and Daryl banged loudly on the door siding to see if any walkers would emerge. Nothing. We all looked at each other surprised that there were no walkers inside or any people for that matter.

The place looked clean as if somebody has been taking care of it. Nothing was destroyed or scavenged through. We walked into a kitchen to see a whole pantry stocked with canned food.

"Whoa. Peanut butter and jelly, diet soda, and pig's feet. That's a white trash brunch right there," Daryl said walking up to the cabinet and swiping his finger on one of the lids, "Ain't a speck of dust on this. That means somebody just put it here. This is someone's stash."

"All right, we'll take some of it and we'll leave the rest," I said grabbing some of the peanut butter and a can of chicken before sitting down at the table. "Those pig feet are mine," Daryl said taking the massive jar down from the pantry. He popped open the lid and started chewing on one of the pigs feet and I thought I was going to hurl from the smell alone.

"That's disgusting," I said crunching up my nose as I ate a big spoonful of peanut butter. " Good protein and hey even little man wants someone," Daryl smirked as Noah was eyeing Daryl making babbling noises. "I think he just loves his dada besides he doesn't even know what pigs feet taste like. All he has ever had is breast milk," I said making faces at Noah as I continued to devour this peanut butter. Noah giggled and had a huge smile on his face.

"He's my kid, he'll love to eat anything that moves. When he's big enough I'll show him how to hunt. He's going to love rabbit, squirrel, deer, and even pigs feet," Daryl said making me laugh, " Whatever you say honey," I said trying to open the can of chicken which is difficult to do when you are holding a newborn. Daryl saw me struggle and grabbed the can from me using his knife to open it before sliding it back across the table.

"Beth, aren't you going to eat?" I asked stuffing my mouth full of chicken. She shook her head, "No, I'm not that hungry." I knew she was lying. There is no way she isn't hungry.

"Beth. Please eat something. I know you are hungry," I pleaded with her. "But this is somebody else's food. I can't eat what they saved for themselves," she said looking over at the stash of food.

" We ain't eating all of it. Lauryn's right Beth, you need to eat," Daryl said pulling a chair out from the table and inviting Beth to sit with us. She gave in and opened a box of cereal and slowly ate a few bites still unsure if she should be eating other people's food.

Noah started to become fussy and I knew he was hungry because this kid is always hungry. As I was feeding Noah there was the rattling noise of the empty cans Daryl set up outside, "I'll check it out. You two stay here," Daryl said quietly grabbing his bow.

"It's just a dog," Daryl said and instantly Beth and I were around the corner. Daryl turned around to see us standing there, " I thought I told you two to stay put? What if it were walkers?"

"You said there was a dog," Beth said and Daryl just shook his head, " He didn't want to stay. Maybe he will come back." Beth and I frowned as we walked back into the kitchen so I could finish feeding Noah.

It was getting late so we found some comfortable couches to lay on and I was going to try and get some sleep. Daryl offered to take the first watch. I think he just wanted alone time with Noah. I didn't mind at all. I was exhausted and Daryl needed some bonding time with Noah.
