I let out a scream in pain as the contractions became more intense. There was no way I was moving to one of the bedrooms to give birth, this baby was coming now.

"Okay, what do I do? I don't know what to do! Tell me what to do!" Daryl panicked looking back and forth between me and the walkers at the door, " Hershel... he was supposed to be here... he was going to take care of you... the baby... I ain't qualified for this," he said standing up starting to pace.

I groan out in pain, " Daryl! Listen to me! You are the most qualified person right here right now because you are this baby's father. You can do this. I need you to do this... now help me take my pants off," I said motioning for help. He didn't say a word and just helped pull my pants down.

"Now, I'm going to do all the work. You just need to grab little Dixon and then cut the cord," I said panting as my body was using all of its energy to push this baby out.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, I'm just so scared. I love you," he said leaning forward to kiss my forehead before going back down and holding my legs apart.

"Beth!" I called out to her, but she was frozen staring at the walkers clawing at the door. "Beth!" Daryl yelled getting her attention and she was instantly by my side.

"Beth.. you know how to sew stitches, right?" I asked before letting out another groan as the walkers huddled around the door slammed into it so many times that a crack formed in the window.

"I've only ever sewed clothes before," she stammered out. Well, now I am a little more worried. Hershel, you were a vet and you never taught your daughter how to do stitches?

"Beth, I might need you to sew me up if I start to bleed. There has to be a sewing kit around here somewhere. It's not ideal, but it's better than bleeding to death. Okay, now go find something to sew me up," I choked out before screaming in pain.

That really riled up the walkers and one smashed its fist through the window in the backdoor.  Oh not right now.

"Beth! Handgun, now!" I yelled at her as she was in the living room. " Well which one is it? Handgun or sewing kit?" She shouted coming back into the kitchen and scavenged through her backpack for her handgun.

She handed it over to me and I pulled the slide back before aiming it up at the walker, shooting it right through the eye. A massive contraction hit and I screamed out in pain before shooting at the other walkers that were trying to climb through the backdoor window.

I laid my head back in exhaustion from the pain and killing walkers. There was no more moaning or groaning at the door, so we were safe from walkers for now.

I leaned forward as a huge contraction hit, " Daryl! He's coming!" I shouted as I  pushed as hard as I could. I probably tore, but I didn't care right now, I just needed this baby out.

"You can do this sweetheart. Come on. You can do this! I see the head!" Daryl said in disbelief. I could see the amazement in his eyes. Witnessing the birth of his child. Actually delivering his child.

I let out another cry as I pushed with all my might. I felt the baby slide out of me and instantly heard a little cry. A huge wave of relief hit me. My breathing and panting slowed trying to relax. Daryl had the baby in his arms, staring down at the small child.

Beth came running into the kitchen," I found a sewing kit! Oh... Lauryn, he's beautiful."

I picked my head up," He?" I said with a big smile on my face. Daryl sniffled, " Yeah, it's a boy," he said looking up at me with tears in his eyes. Little Dixon kept crying so Daryl brushed his cheek attempting to soothe him. He reached up and grabbed onto one of Daryl's fingers and instantly stopped crying.  My heart could burst right now from the love and adornment I have for my husband and child.

"Look at him," Daryl smirked holding up his son as best as he could with the cord still attached. Daryl realized he almost forgot to cut the cord and whipped out his knife.

After Daryl cut the cord, Beth helped push on my stomach to help move the placenta out. Daryl stood up quickly," What the hell is that thing!" he asked cradling his son into his chest.

I let out a chuckle," It's the placenta. It provides oxygen and nutrients to the baby." Daryl nodded still unsure of it due to its weird shape. He leaned down placing little Dixon on my chest, " Here you go little man. This is your badass mama. So badass, she even killed walkers while pushing you out," he said and we both laughed. I looked up at Daryl who had a smile plastered on his face. I have never seen this man smile so much.

" What are you guys going to name him?" Beth asked and Daryl and I looked at each other. Nine months have gone by and we never decided on a name.

"Well... I was thinking-" Daryl started, but was interrupted by a heard of walkers clawing at the door. There was at least double the amount that there was before.

"Think later, we have to go now!" I said attempting to sit up, but I felt dizzy and laid back down with little Dixon in my arms.

"Oh my gosh! You're bleeding!" Beth exclaimed before crouching down and opening the sewing kit. I tried to stay calm, but that was really difficult to do when you have just given birth, bleeding out with a novice medical assistant attempting to stitch me up, and having walkers trying to break in.

Daryl was at the door stabbing any walker he could to buy us some more time. "Beth! We almost good to go?" Daryl yelled back at Beth while yanking his knife out of a walker's head.

"Almost done... Okay! Okay, let go!" She said trying to help me to my feet, but I shook my head. "I.. I can't I'm too weak," I said as my eyes started to feel heavy. Not this feeling again.

"Beth get the truck ready, I got her," Daryl said stabbing the last walker that was piling up at the door. He tossed her the keys before swooping down to pick me up. Daryl carried me while I cradled our newborn baby.

"Eyes open darling," Daryl whispered before placing me in the backseat, " Beth, get in the back with her and watch over her!" Beth jumped in the backseat and Daryl drove off as fast as he could just as walkers were starting to swarm around the truck.

I glanced over at Beth, " Take him, please," I whispered weakly and Beth took my sweet little baby out of my arms. He started to cry and Beth did her best to comfort him.

"I'm just so tired," I whispered as my eyes slowly closed. "No! You are not leaving us! Eyes open Lauryn!" I heard Daryl shout and little Dixon started to cry even more. That's the last thing I heard before slipping into darkness.
