I woke up the next morning to the sound of Daryl snoring softly. He only snores when he is super tired, so I guess last night really tuckered him out. I didn't want to wake him since he looked so peaceful in his sleep, but we needed to get up and get ready for the day.

"Daryl," I whispered in his ear while rubbing his back. "Mhm?" He mumbled and cuddled into the blanket more which made me giggle. "You need to get up, we need to go on a run soon for more food and supplies," I said softly still rubbing his back. " But this feels so good, don't stop," he said with his voice muffled by the pillow. He turned more on his stomach so I could continue rubbing his back. He really likes to be babied when nobody else is around. After a couple of minutes of me rubbing his back, he let out a big sigh, "I guess I gotta get up now," he slowly started to get up grabbing his shirt, " Thank you for the back rub," he said kissing my forehead.

"Anytime babe," I smiled at him. We both were getting dressed when we heard Rick yell Daryl's name. Daryl ignored it, but Rick called for him again. He let out a huff stepping out on the deck of the guardtower. "What?" Daryl yelled down to Rick while zipping up his pants.

Rick smirked before responding, "I need you to go on a run with me whenever you're ready." Daryl gave Rick a thumbs-up before walking back into the room. "Rick needs me to go on a run with him, I'll be back in a bit," he said kissing me before walking down the stairs. I finished getting dressed and made my way to cell block C to check on Hershel. Lori found some crutches in the infirmary so today was the day that Hershel was going to try and walk again.

Daryl's POV:

I walked over to Rick who was packing up one of the cars. I got in the passenger seat setting my bow down and Rick jumped in the driver's seat. He started driving towards one of the local towns where there was a pharmacy and a general store. My guess is we were picking up some medical supplies and whatever food we can scavenge.

"So I wanted to ask you something," Rick started to say turning to me before looking back at the road. "Mhm?"

" When we were searching for a place to settle down and we came across the prison, you wanted to talk to me about something, and I never gave you the chance to talk because I was so excited about finding a new place to live. Well, I want to know what you were gonna say, it sounded like it was going to be important," Rick explained waiting for me to respond.

I sat for a moment nervous to ask him. Rick isn't even her father and I'm nervous as hell. "You know I love Lauryn right?" I said figuring out what to say as I go.

"Yeah, I do. You two are really good together. I have never seen her so happy. And after last night, I think everyone knows how much you love each other, " Rick chuckled. I laughed a little, but more embarrassed than anything that everyone heard us.

"Well, I wanted to ask you something since you are like the only family she's got left," I said and Rick's face turned serious waiting to see what I was going to say. " Rick, I wanted to ask for your blessing to marry Lauryn. Her dad isn't around anymore for me to ask, so I thought it was only right to ask you."

Rick's serious face turned into a big grin, " Absolutely. I'm honored that you asked me. You two deserve each other. Do you have a ring yet?"

"Yeah. I found one when we were searching through houses a couple of months ago. It's perfect for her," I said pulling it out of my pocket. I'll admit my pocket was not the safest place to keep it, but I haven't lost it yet. I held it up so Rick could see, he looked over gently grabbed it. He looked down at it a few times before looking back at the road. He smiled before handing it back to me, " She's gonna love it. When are you gonna ask her?"
