Origin of Error

<Location: Atlas Academy>

A young soldier stares in awe at the thing in the sky. A perimeter was already established, and every living being other than the Military, was evacuated.

In the sky, was a crackling mass of something. Nobody could tell what it was, and what it was made of. It appeared different to everyone, at all times.

Arthur Watts and Pietro Polendina were in a nearby tent, observing the thing that was now being referred to as, Object:Error.

This was because no matter what tests both of them ran, what machines they used, even the calculations they wrote and did themselves, all resulted in different levels of ERROR messages.

General Alde walks into the tent, worry evident in his demeanour. "Any progress, gentlemen?"

Arthur slams his scroll on the table, breaking it. "NOTHING! NOTHING IS GOING CORRECTLY! I JUST GOT THE ANSWER OF 1+1 AS INFINITY! INFINITY!!"

Pietro on the other side was staring off into nothingness, mumbling maniacally under his breath.

Arthur screamed, "AND PIETRO BROKE TOO!"

General Alde grits his teeth before remembering these are the greatest minds in Atlas, with half the Council willing to bend over backwards to have them. "We found another effect of Object:Error."

Pietro and Arthur snap to attention. General Alde continues, "From the beginning, physical things have been going awry. Guns misfiring, not firing, levitating, auto-aiming are just some of them. Now some soldiers are mixing up their family with one another. Things keep going missing. We cannot afford to stay here for much longer, gentlemen."

Before either of the two scientists could answer, the world flipped.

General Alde tore through the tent as he fell upwards.

Pietro and Arthur held onto their table for dear life, a table which was, mysteriously, not moving.

Screams could be heard as soldiers all flew up. After a while, gravity returned to its original state. Only a few fortunate soldiers who didn't have time to reach too high, managed to survive with grievous injuries and shattered Aura's.

General Alde was drifting in space, his remains frozen already.

Arthur muttered, "Just what the hell are we dealing with?"

Pietro said, "Arthur."

Watts turned to see a horrified expression on Pietro's face. Pietro was looking at Object:Error.

Pietro's legs, were turning into white motes of light as they flew towards the anomaly.

Slowly, almost unwillingly, Arthur turned to look at Object:Error.

Glitches were appearing in reality. Tears, Ruptures in space, all appeared and disappeared in an instant.

The anomaly, was active.

Pietro finally seemed to recognize his fading legs and screamed.

Arthur was still looking right at the anomaly. 'It..can't be. This must be a mistake, an Error like the math problem I tried solving in the vicinity of Object:Error. This can't be.'

Amidst the quaking and roiling existence and non-existence, Arthur almost believed he saw a childlike hand moving.

The logic that governed the world, the rules that existed, all of it was in a state of unrest. In this state of turmoil, two more such anomalies spawned, one in a child of 7, another inside a foetus yet to be born.

So how was it? Good, Bad, Ugly? And if you're wondering why I've written 4 in the synopsis, but only mentioned three anomalies here, (mild spoiler) it's because of the nature of the 4rth.
