<Vale>

The citizens of Vale, not just in the city, but throughout the kingdom, were milling about in confusion.

A curtain of endless darkness had descended upon the kingdom. Nobody could see beyond an arm's length into the darkness.

Accidents and misfortune were rampant.

People tripped and fell on conveniently placed rocks. Coupled with the inability to see, chaos was spreading through the kingdom.

Even the Grimm, lost all senses, unable to sense even the slightest emotion.

<Ozpin POV>

I did not move from my seat, instead opting to grab Glynda firmly by the hand. In a situation like this, one must not be separated from one's allies at any cost.

I ran through the list of posibilities that could have caused this to happen.

A Semblance? No, the scale was too large.

A new Grimm? It would have to be around since before Salem and I began our war, for it to mature into such strength.

Salem herself? No, even in our primes, such a spell would be beyond us.

The Relic of Creation? But none of the currently known Maidens were close to it? Still a possibility.

Finally, I found the worst possibility. I shook my head. That can't be. The Brothers suddenly returning to Remnant? I would have known first.

Whatever this was, we had to survive until this Nightmare was over.

I looked down to see a Hunstman with a pen through his head,  his Aura shattered, his corpse cooling already.

Just survive till the Nightmare was over.

<Patch>

A young Summer Rose stumbles around in Pure Darkness, her silver eyes not helping her in any way.

A simple trip had transformed into a much more ominous journey. Though she could not see, Summer could feel the dread in her bones as things moved in the dark.

She stumbled and lost her grip on the axe she had picked up from a lumberjack's residence.

The people of Vale prayed, to the Brothers of Light and Darkness, to Oum, and to whatever they believed in.

There was no response.

After about 13 days, the Darkness subsided, leaving behind countless tragedies.

Despite the efforts of the (remaining) Vale Council, negativity was rampant.

Once the Grimm's senses returned, a Horde of unprecedented size attacked throughout the kingdom.

The only major loss, was that of Mount Glenn, which was culled to the last living being.

Later, this event would be called the River of Darkness by those who survived it.

A time of unchecked Disaster.

The only reason Vale remained standing, was due to the other kingdoms facing similar problems at the time.

In the panic following the River of Darkness incident, nobody noticed the few people who went missing due to unexplained means.

Or the fact that a young child from a tiny village had survived a Grimm Horde on his own, might seem suspicious.

<General POV>

The path carved by Object:Error healed quickly, not letting any more anomalies pass through. But the damage was done.

Four anomalies were now active in the world of Remnant.
