Chalkline's POV

"You a gambler man, mi cyah even rob yuh."

She was ecstatic about winning the last three games back to back. Thank God she was here to provide a little distraction from my tortured love life.

"My father taught me everything I know about playing spades and yes he would let me win sometimes"

"Spoil daddy's girl. Just so you know, I did allow you to win."

She laughs out. "Lies!" she yelled.

"Do you want more drinks?"

"No thank you but the wings are really good. I would love more."

"Then suppose you were drinking alcohol, the hotel kitchen would have to send everything up here."

"Are you teasing me about food sir?"

"Not at all, I believe women should eat."

"You know what I can't forget? When you got me jerk chicken with so much pepper in Jamaica. I wish you had brought some, I would love you for it."

That day, I will never forget that day. Stacy will forever be legendary.

"See how food makes you fall in love?"

She laughs and covers her face. "That's how my fiance' got me. We went out on a date and I told him to order for me, he picked my favourite meal and I have been in love with him ever since."

"All because of food?"

"Yes, a way to my heart is through my stomach. I am just like a man," she said and it made me chuckle.

She was just like Stacy, she could be mad at me sometimes and all I need to do is get her some food.

"My wife doesn't really love gifts, she loves food and I love watching her eat, so you are right."

I caught her staring at me and smiling after I made that statement. "What?" I asked.

"You know I have never seen you smile so wide like you did just now, your entire face lights up when you speak of your wife."

"Oh, that?"

"Yeah, I love that. I remember the last time I saw you, I thought that you two weren't going to make it. I am happy everything worked out. I"

Right now she was speaking and I just wished that I could be happy about everything she was saying. Fucked up that I might end up back at the same place she saw me the last time.

"You know how relationships go, they all have their ups and downs. I am sure you have gone through some things."

"I have, especially with my dad no longer here. Before German, I thought it would be hard for me to give my all to a man. I just believe that if he can't treat me like my father did, he doesn't deserve me."

"So, German treats you like a princess?"

She smiled, "I get treated how I want to be treated."

"I get that."

Easily I could tell there was trouble in her relationship but I did not want to divulge into that, because I for sure did not want her in mine.

I poured her glass of water and gave her some more chicken wings. It was almost 2 am but I was glad for the company and would keep her as long as I could to take my mind off Stacy.

"It's getting late, yuh sure you don't have to go to bed?"

"What you need to remember all the time is that I am the boss and if the boss wants to keep you up and keep you up with her, then you have to stay up."
