The revelations about the terrible deeds that Soojin and her friends had committed created a mixture of horror, anger and helplessness in me. Each situation described seemed like a slap in the face, and the darkness that Beomgyu had lived through came alive in my mind. It was hard to comprehend that someone I thought I knew so well could have committed such atrocities. I couldn't believe that Soojin was behind it all. The pain inside me grew with every line of the blog, and the reality of the dark secrets hidden in our past tugged at my emotions.
I had sent the link to the blog post to Soobin because I couldn't handle it alone.
I needed someone to give me their opinion.
Someone who could tell me if it was possible that it was Soojin and her friends.
And that's why I was now standing in front of Soobin's door, ringing the bell for the second time and could feel not only my heart pounding but also my hands shaking. It didn't take five seconds before the front door was pulled open and my best friend stood in front of me with widened eyes. He was holding his smartphone in his left hand and it only took a glance to see that he had also read the blog.
Or was at least reading it.
"Hey, come in," Soobin instructed me and closed the door right behind me. From the look on his face, he seemed just as confused. "Do you think the blog is real? Do you really think Soojin and her friends would do something like that? - I mean, that's really disgusting!"
"It is," I agreed without hesitation and walked further into the living area with an exasperated sigh. I knew Soobin would follow me, so I turned to him with an agonized look. "What am I supposed to believe, Soobin? That sounds really horrible, but ... - what if it's true? What if Soojin really did those bad things?"
The tall chef immediately raised his hands defensively and shook his head.
"No, I just can't imagine that. Soojin and her friends couldn't do something so terrible. It must all be a misunderstanding," Soobin replied with a worried expression on his face.
"So you think Beomgyu is talking about someone else?" I asked uncertainly, wiping my hands on my T-shirt several times. Taking a deep breath, I walked to the sink, took a glass and filled it with water. "So - ... that another clique of five did this?"
